IAF doesn't even order anything on time even when they have indigenous option available. Chalo Tejas isn't ready, that is HAL and cos fault. But what stopping IAF from inducting all those missiles that have been cleared for induction. They have so much scrutiny over any of our indigenous products. They can always induct in limited quantity and test it themselves to give feedback to the maker. Same IAF jumps for any imported missiles without much questions because "well tested weapons saar". And here some folks I shall not name makes IAF seems like victim of MoD and DPSUs. When they have also been one of the guys with Phawda alongside MoD and DPSUs babus that dig this hole for themselves..

OTOH Israelis have a host of missiles that they build and use, inspite of them having the whole catalogue of US AIM and AGM to import.

Is there any foreign missile used on IAF planes that is domestically atleast?

Or is everything imported fully built from Russia, Israel.

Admirols chose which is domestically built now and has most sub-components also domestically producible.

Barak-8 was co-developed with DRDO getting the propulsion and fins wagera, jews did electronics and seeker.
It is ofc no cohencidence that Akash-NG is basically a Barak-8 with deshi seeker.

And Navy missiles are ofc in smaller quantities, while IAF missiles must be bulk procurement, still from Russkie ally nobody from MoD thought about asking for some ToT?

They got ASRAAM to be but it's pointless since Su30 me integrate nahi ho raha afaik.

They do use some indigenous dumb bombs and other munitions. Like some claims were there, they used Khagantak.

3 pulse rocket motor? Never heard of a A2A missile with a 3 pulse rocket motor. If it is so it's range must be greater than what is advertized publicly. I think DRDO should also make a cheaper Astra MK3 with 3 pulse rocket motor. Right now we are making with Solid fueled ducted ramjet which is great for high probability of kill but I guess it must be an expensive missile. We got to have cheaper version of it as well.

Publically it is advertised as 100km missile. But I don't think a three pulse motor LRAAM would have just 100km range. It could be atleast similar to Meteor in range. I don't think it will kill Astra though as some people are speculating. Infact even our guys are working on three pulse AAM. Maybe this is like Barak-8, where we collabed with Israelis. Maybe we are thinking of getting this technology from them.

Astra mk4 with 3 pulse rocket motors and a seeker designed to be relatively more effective against stealth targets is in early phase of works.

US aim260 jtam is also rumoured to be 3 pulsed.
Russia & china are also working on similar missiles.
