Indian Air Force: News & Discussions (35 Viewers)

Jaguar crashes, pilot dead. Damn.

2, it was a twin seat trainer.

A lot more than that though. Localisation increases with time, you won't achieve high %age indigenisation on the first day. Earlier AL-31F Saturns for our Su-30 MKIs were essentially screwdrivered while the latest batches have majority Indian content by value.

Many Indian engineering firms are being onboarded into the LM2500 marine gas turbine supply chain.

Acha hai but my point still stands.

IN is useful for their purposes.
However IAF and IA must remain mediocre for their purpose versus Packie counterparts, not have a decisive equipment advantage like IN on PN.

Therefore we can expect more delays for both GEF404 and GE F414, It gives them leverage over us.

Anyway IAF doesn't want Tejas or anything domestic.
They want 114 Rafale now to step squadron losses
and 36-54 F-35 after that as a "stop gap" "till AMCA is ready" of course ;)

This guy sums up the situation succinctly.

If they built the MWF around AL31FP we wouldn't be having the drama in the first place.

Now there is the sunk cost falacy where they will cry over muh time, money spend in redesigning MWF to fit the AL31FP so as to continue doing Mujra -e- ToT infront of Sultan Umrika for the precious GE F414.

Haven't HAL finalised the ToT part and they are now doing Mujra-e-dhando i.e negotiation talks for commercialisation (profit sharing ye woh)?

Don't follow what level of (((procedure))) they're in rn, don't care either
All i see is more pic related for them in the future

Both from GE engine supply chain drama and ofc from the users.

pray that Mudi signs a deal for 72 Rafales atleast we'll get those guaranteed.

I just pray GEF414 deal actually happens. Not because I like murica or anything but atleast that way there won't be any delays with Tejas Mk2. And Tejas Mk2 would be an export worthy platform. Then dhandoman will support it at full swing. Because of export potential and will even force IAF to order more..maybe even the brand ambassador of Atmanirbhar Bharat Armenia too will buy it.
:bplease: :bplease: :bplease: :creepy: :creepy: :bplease: :bplease: :creepy: :creepy: :bplease: :creepy:

Can HAL retrofit GEF414 in Tejas Mk1A if some issue arises wrt to GEF404 engine in the future? Because they will license manufacture it here. Resident engineers how difficult it would be?
It will be relatively easy actually.
Not much modifications to airframe at all.
But with all the testing, re certification, modification to flight software due to higher thrust etc will take around 2 years of work in Indian case( other countries can do it a lot faster).
Both F404-GE-IN20( max dry thrust 50.4kn, wet thrust 84kn) and F414-GE-INS6( max dry thrust 63kn, wet thrust 98kn) has same overall length and same max diameter.
Though dry length of F414-GE-INS6 is little bit more( it's afterburner section is shorter than afterburner of f404) so it's dry section will stick out a little more.

No, IN if fighting PLAN on behalf of the burgers would obviously mean PLAAF/PLAGF/PLARF attacking us across the LAC. So the question of IA/IAF being mediocre on purpose doesn't seem fit, as it would mean blowback for IN as well.

This "delay" at this point is just conspiracy theory in my honest opinion. I don't think after Operation Sindoor they would be trusting the Rafales as much as they did earlier. I mean requesting MBDA to supply more expensive weapons every time we run short of them as our own they despite receiving payment for ISE aren't integrating due to being lethargic and slow (or likely on purpose).

I think prospects of Su-57 MKI are more bright than 114 more Rafales. And it would allow us to license produce AL-41F engines, or maybe even the latest ones the Russians are making for the Felon.

Only assembly and minor parts fabrication by HAL.
The thing is they are convinced that IN could be useful for a Taiwan bachao Andolan or anything else, P8Is, MH-60Rs are freely sold and delivered.

Besides IN doesn't have much options, GE & RR are the only merchants for MGT, Ruskal is starting out after 2014 and Ukraine is being bombed.

Let's hope we can make the "consumable parts" that need replacement because of wear and tear in-country.

OTOH IAF cannot be allowed to be too strong against PAF, would screw with the ((( balance of power in the region ))).

Anyway the United Snakes will do what it will, the question needs to be asked tho who was insistent on GE F404 then and GE F414 now.

If they wanted planes that badly build one around AL-31FP series.
I have a dream....

M88 T-Rex, installed also in the UCAV for Rafale F5 so qualified for single engine use, is the new motor for Tejas mk2....

Bulk order of MWF is not happening irrespective.

We live in a clown country where Morocco will be running latest Indian Tata WhAp while India will be running 70s-80s Stryker.

Rafale & F-35 is IAFs future, which will be limited to fighting Paapistan only.

Govt doesn't have infinite money to bulk import gold plated maal and UN Import Marshall doesn't want anything Indian-made( only way to get numbers up to fight Ching ) so this is the only capability they will have.

In 70s Admirals were barely managing 3 ships of a class from a single DPSU shipyard with fully imported Russian radar and weapons.

Today Admirals have 7-8 ships across 2 shipyards for both Frigates and large corvettes where even all subsystems are fully or partially 🪛 made here, Steel is Indian, Design is Indian and Shipbuilder also Indian.

By comparison across the same time span the Marsholl failed Marut, is failing Tejas and will fail anything else in the future.

In Todays Era of War US is encouraging the Euros, Japanese and Koreans to all ramp up production of their own sht because they burgers can't produce enough for themselves let alone to arm the vassals

In this climate our guys are still angling for imports.

A time will come when they won't be able to deflect on the ebul politicuck leedorship for "faulty RoEs"

Atleast export to hoga. I am hoping for that. :bplease: :creepy: :bplease: :creepy:

On the pak forum they don't want to understand I'm french.

They speak of me as a "Rakesh". What doest it means? They don't want to explain (as an indian....)
And what means :
Next time you're on there, you should ask them what "teri gau mata ne kebab bannya operation tandoor mein".

1. its on paper right now.

2. It will deliver additional thrust of 9 metric tons total 88.2 kilonewtons with afterburners, a 20% increase compared to the current M88's 75 kN.

3. F414-INS6 Has max thrust of 98kn, and it's barely enough.

Classic chuslim trope "We turned your cow mom into Tandoori Kebab during Op Sindoor", another beef joke. These are the same bunch that start exploding randomly if you even quote a verse of their scriptures that puts them in a difficult position lol. Their worth is only killing animals who can neither convey their emotions or fight back. In real life they get slaughtered in thousands, cry for mercy to allah hearing bombs being dropped onto them and then celebrate it as victory.

US has to provide authorization for export since you're using their engine.
It's the reason why Gripen hasn't found much export success
Nope, it's because Saab can't produce enough of them despite the strong export push. Guess the delivery timelines of those aircrafts to their respective customers, especially Brazil. Add on the lack of Meteor and other wunderwaffe integration timelines being fkd up.

MWF would be a direct competitor to F-16 sales same like how Gripen is.
Baaki ka aap samajh lo.

Gripen E still hasn’t been produced in significant numbers, so in my opinion, Tejas MK2 cannot be considered delayed.

Maybe DcPP partners. I don't think these guys can develop their own drone anytime soon except Solar, Raphe and HAL. Adani will just push Israeli maal. Hopefully Solar has something good.

Though from a practical perspective locally made Israeli maal is still better than nothing.

Airbus Eurodrone has a flight ceiling of 40000 ft and and endurance of 40 hours
