P600 has twice the endurance, but half the cabin volume of erj145.
And from what I know, all the systems were tightly packed in erj 145 internals after modification was done.

Original erj145 had endurance of 4-4.5 hours, netra mk1 was modified(most likely extra fuel). with improved endurance of 5-6 Hours( include both ingress and egress transit times loitering time).

If we're buying new airframe, then based on space and endurance, e170/175 makes most sense.
In size it's directly above erj145, has bigger internal cabin space, that can be modified to carry more fuel, netra mk1a awacs based on this can have endurance of 8-9 hours.
But per unit cost is 40-50 million dollars.

A used erj145, can cost 2-5 million if its from 2000s.
Used erj145 from 2010s can cost 5-8 million.
Assuming good care of the jet.

there's so many e145 frames in the aftermarket, it wouldnt have been a issue to procure it, unless babus play with it.

p600 would never be chosen for aewacs, its too small, just compare the size of 145 to p600, the aaau wouldnt even fit properly on p600.

All these years and i never realized that when people say "lots of used erj145 in market saars" they mean the standard civilian version

Always used to wonder when seeing the AWACS version is in service with only 5-6 airforces with ~4 planes each how people think "lots" are available.

Anyway good it means atleast we will get some awacs finally

Talk of 42 Squadrons for IAF

Who is interested for IAF to get 42 squadrons. It is mostly aircraft companies abroad and their hired agents in India pushing 42 squadrons of 1995 technology era. Time has changed. The aircraft industry is undergoing a dramatic change every 10 years. The previous eras Rafale and MiG-35 or American f-18 are no longer in the running. It is the stealth fighters or era of 5 generation fighter jets. Ten years from now it will 6th generation. Then why are we harping on 42 squadrons and shortage of aircrafts. Yes, the old ones need to be replaced but talk of 42 squadrons unnecessary. Technology is undergoing a change in which one 5th generation can match the performance of three 1995 generation aircraft.

The much talked about two front war has a limited scope. Nobody wants to jump into other’s fight. Certainly not China for petty terror related fights initiated by Pakistan. Now Indian Army in operation Sindoor has proven that its muscle can outperform any adversary including China. Now they are sitting down a bit quiet. Now even Pakistan does not want Chinese military hardware hence why would China act funny and get into war situation with India on Pakistan’s behalf. Even Chinese have realized that there is nothing to gain in India. Trouble is that they can get stuck in Himalayas and loose the battle and prestige.

too expensive, it has lots of specific traits that will be useful as a military transport but doesn't provide much help in awacs role but do add extra cost.

It's a operational validation test.
Indegenious seeker is used in production missiles delivered.
Only earlier limited series production missiles had russian seeker.

C-390 is a good platform for Transport planes. We are in dire need and an Local Assembly will be a good thing. Infact we should ask Embraer to introduce manufacturing plants in India. Good chances for them to sell E2 series planes.

indeed it is good, but for our diverse terrain, randombully saab said that a turboprop would be the best, a400m is in between c17 and mta category, it can lift light tanks and artillery guns which ig c390 cannot

I doubt the Israelis will play mediator for us for any amount of money. The high chances of pissing off the Americans by going to bat for us and loosing this level of freedom means they wont risk it.

I was doing some SU-57 v/s J-35 testing in CMO, SU-57 as a stealth fighter is utterly useless. Even TPS-77 detected them at quite a distance.

Embraer se we can extract more ToT.

Airbus se with a large A400M and A330 MRTT order we can possibly extract an Airbus commercial jet FAL along with local assembly for A400M

AMCA - IF big IF hal is made to shut the fuck up, and pvt players are allowed to become the lead in integration, manufacturing then AMCA can be the start of a golden age in Indian aviation.

Are you actually expecting the Pvt Sector which hasn't even assembled a 2nd Gen FA from a SKD / CKD kit to straight way leap frog to being the lead integrator for 5th Gen FA program ? What next ? Get them to design the RTA too perhaps ? And what's HAL supposed to do then ? Become a component vendor for the AMCA project ?
