Discussion is along similar lines on another cricket forum too. Team won twice in Australia previously and it didn't mean anything but defeat here means everything that represents Indianness must be subjected to intense value judgements because nation as a whole is underachieving despite being 150 cr etc. Hinduism and idol worship is why Kohli and Rohit Sharma are worshipped like rajni and srk etc etc. Which is a civilizational character flaw. I don't even know where to begin. And then some people say Indians are incapable of taking criticism lol.
not sure if there are theories already in place, but i put them in a bucket called "politics of terminology".
for now i will phrase my observations this way, will improve on this later.
there are phrases, terms, words and ideas that are used or encouraged to be used, in one direction and not in another, in one context and not in another. sometimes words are strategically even overused in a time period, to crowd out alternative points of view. most times, sometimes strategically erased from usage or not using them in the right context and meaning, i think public loses out on a lot of clarity of thought .
ofcourse all this is relative, depending on where you stand and power backing it.
result is that as you said , conclusions are encouraged in one direction have such a low bar, but in another direction have such a high dam to cross.
a few examples from history: martial races, syncretic culture, pagans, heathens, swastika(nazi).
in contemporary discourse : liberalism, secularism, multi-culturalism.
a decade ago devdutt patnaik used to be in such vogue, the guy used to change the meaning of sanskrit words so blatantly.
