We should gradually impose the terms and conditions on auto makers in return for market access.
Yeah, you can't do that after you've given them almost full access to the markets; remember telecom?

Ya'll NPA is a legacy which never stop giving back.

Whenever I see such debates in the Canadian or English parliament, atleast the parliamentarians there seem a lot more civilised. Only in India, Taiwan and few other countries do I see this where multiple people keep screaming in the background when a person is giving his speech. And , these people are our representatives in parliament, smh.

Jindal is building a 6 MTPA steel plant in Oman, a country which barely produces 3 MTPA. Tatta is building a $5 bn EV battery plant in UK which building half that capacity in India. No comments from my side.

Let them 'build' it first. :cmegusta:

are these points related ?

the way GDP is counted, when Indian based companies produce offshore.
comparison between last year's release and this year's release for Q2 2023-24

imports :
last year release - 12.53 lakh crore
this year release - 11.53 lakh crore.

while the over all Q2 number broadly matches.

same with discrepancies number.

this year release

last year release

and what does this footnote mean ?

# Following Expenditure Approach, GDP = PFCE + GFCE + GFCF + CIS + Valuable + Export - Import. Discrepancy refers to gap between GDP (Production/Income Approach) and GDP (Expenditure Approach)
In case of Discrepancy percentage share in GDP is given instead of percentage changes over previous year.

so what exactly happened to the imports which was counted as 12.5 lakh crores last year and 11.5 lakh crore this year, for Q2 2023-24?

under normal circumstances, drop of 1.39 lakh crore imports yoy would be a big deal.

Indonesia has made mandatory that for phones to be sold in their country - 40% of the components should be manufactured in Indonesia. Because of which iphone16 cannot be sold. Indonesia is expecting Apple to invest 1 billion dollars to meet criteria.

Do you think India shall go to this route if PLI does not bring required localization? Can India withdraw from ITAR?

Apple doesn't give a fuck. Indonesia is not a big market for Apple. Since they are demanding 40% of the components to be made domestically, what exactly are they expecting to be made in Indonesia? Microprocessor? Memory chips? Battery? Screen? Printed circuit board? Camera module? All these things require heavy technical knowledge and lot of investment. They promised to invest $100 million but now Indonesians want $1 billion investment.

I don't know how this works. Because Apple doesn't make things, they only own the IP. It is their suppliers who control the supply chain and manufacturing. The most they might get is assembly plant but I am skeptical. Apple needs to tell their suppliers to move to Indonesia. Will that happen? Maybe if they are selling around atleast 5 million iphones in the country.

Simply it's a delusion for someone who don't know their aukaat. Even China doesn't produce much components for Apple. Most of the Components are American, European, Korean and Japanese.

This has to be a joke at this point. While speculative and premature this evil women has become the bane of the middle class.

This open looting of middle class by this women when it is us who brought them to power is just ridiculous.

Openly taking our money and funding these dehati savages across the country is too much to bear.

Middle class really needs to coordinate the siege of delhi and put the fear of god inside this 2 kaudi ki aurat and teach all the govts a lesson.

I am not sure what is your problem with taxing sin goods. Things like cigarettes, tobacco products, sugary beverages deserve 35% GST tax rate. India has confirmed 100 million people with diabetes. Recently Lancet claimed it is in fact 200 million. Do you want more people with diabetes and cancer? Pan, Gutka, cigarettes should be taxed to hell. Sugary drinks Pepsi and Coke deserve the same tax bracket. Our healthcare is going to skyrocket if we don't take steps to control the consumption of these unhealthy goods.
