These will not be final and will be heavily reduced in the coming weeks.

What’s more funny is that even Bdesh (37%) and Pak 29%) are hit with massive tariffs that will sink their already sinking economy.

Our economic rivals Vietnam (45%) and China (34%) are also hit with way higher tariffs which means China can no more re-route goods via Vietnam.

Overall I think India will come out stronger relative to our rivals after all negotiations.

China 34% is additive on existing 20%. So, its 54%.

Also, medicines are exempt, which is one of the largest exports of India to US.

EDIT: The orange man has always advocated in favor of yielding tariffs as an effective tool to revenuemaxx; even before his 2016 Presidential campaign. He genuinely believes in that theory. This narrative assumes that, if prices go up then , there won't be a drop in consumption for Americans. reality is there would absolutely be a drop, people will cutback on spending , which ironically would cripple trump's further plan of domestic industries.

Which reinforces one earlier claim of mine, that you cannot engage with trump 2.0

He will do whatever the heck he wants. Mexico tried playing nice with them, did not work. Chongs are likely going to retaliate, will have to see if it works.

Striking long term natgas/oil contracts or outright buying some oil/gas fields might work for us tho. Will also help us diversify our energy sources. And definitely going to calm the orange moron down given how much of an influence the oil and gas lobby holds over their party.
