Indian Economy

I believe these are temporary work visas for intra-company transfers.
I get that but look at the quantum ! Are we to understand the entire trade talks hinged merely on an agreement or lack thereof a mere 100 visas ?

Most likely not, I think we already compromised on the number of visas previously.

FTA's are hard to negotiate, since there are lot of chapters on issues like labour, hooman rights, environmental issues, carbon tax etc etc, so those could've been delaying it as well.

TBH, apart from lower tariffs on textiles, I don't know what we'll be gaining from this FTA.

Goel was speaking about steel cement etc when referring to the carbon tax he wanted the UK to exempt Indian exports from. Could be a lot of other stuff too. But what does UK have to export? More Jaguars or Aston Martin? Single Malt whiskey?

Apart from those, it's probably Financial services I guess. Maybe UK insurance companies and banks will be allowed to operate more freely in India and want lesser regulations? Not really sure though.

Goyal and Babooz demanded many many more visas but have since come to the obvious realization that amid surging anti immigration sentiments even a Labor govt wouldn't budge an inch and hence (correctly) moving on to more important aspects of the deal.

Wonder what caused this sudden change of heart... Do they read my DFB posts? :bplease: :bplease:

If someone can make any sense of this damn article please decode it for me otherwise prima facie it looks like Probashi Bong is going against type to ditch kulchaaar & emulate Marus here. In other words a real boka.....
