Indian Economy

The packet is made in India saar.

Indian economic machinery has saturated all of its policy maneuver in its current setup and no expansion can take place unless the setup is changed.

Is this something waqeels actually pull in court?

MEA came out with a statement that they want more Indians going abroad, completely ignoring the changing political and cultural landscape in the host countries which have turned anti immigrant.

There is a serious split between sensible and grounded people like Sanjeev Sanyal and more entrenched (compromised) elements in the govt pushing in two different directions.

Still, I'm not so pessimistic of our manufacturing potential yet. It's picking up steadily with electronics and now even semi conductors. It's not difficult to keep the ball rolling into different categories once the ecosystem starts expanding.

Not entirely, it's mainly smartphones and within that mainly Apple led, followed by Samsung.

By next year there is that import quota for laptops and servers making a Cumback, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus have already announced local production in India for laptops, servers etc so lets see what happens

We have TV and white good manufacturing also but no idea how much is exported, if they are manufacturing here via basic assembly just to juke duties

Ecosystem always starts out as components and subcompinents, then expands to more and more types of products and bigger and bigger shares of overall components.

Unlike Vietnam today and China in its early days, India can also actively play a part in the R&D process of these companies. We already are in that space for semicon design. It can prove useful in speeding up localization of production.

Afaik The vast majority of import is CRGO or electrical steel, which Tata doesn't even manufacture in India nor has the technology to do so. Also there are different grades in electrical steel and all the higher grades are imported from Cheen/Jap and SK.

Its only recently that JSW has jumped into this, but even that is due to a tie up where the Japanese company will give license/tot.

Very little in house R&D by our rent seeking conglomerates despite 100+ years of steel making.

Chindi brands can get away with scams like this, that's why i don't trust any chappri brand saying MADE IN INDIA SAAAAR on the packet for cheap products like usb cables and all

>Packet is "made in India"
> Packet is literally covered with "Zhou"

All the money these dhandhos made making billions of tonnes of steel all these decades but couldn't invest enough to produce domestic equivalents. So-called "2nd largest" steel producers.

I know for a fact that JSW has been producing electric furnace steel for the last 10 - 15 years . Cause my cousin worked on that plant in odisha .

Thyssenkrup's Indian subsidiary does it in small quantities. But Indian companies don't have the tech.

Ok .. I was talking about steel produced from electric arc furnaces not steel for electrical applications.

The brand name is a dead giveaway :bplease:

On a serious note, lodge an e-complaint with the National Consumer Helpline Portal - this is deceptive marketing 101. If you have purchased it on an e-commerce platform lodge a separate complaint against them (and dial their helpline) - they are legally bound to mention the country of origin correctly.

You would not need a lawyer to do this.

Last but not the least, a majority of the domestically manufactured products bear the 'Make in India' logo on their wrappers and/or the packaging boxes. If you are not checking the manufacturer/importer/marketer details, at least look for the 'Make in India' logo for a quick confirmation.

Ya'll nibbiars, article mentions that an anti dumping probe is ongoing - only a matter of time before additional anti dumping duties are imposed.

Also, first time? :cmegusta:

Do you have any idea how many anti dumping duties they have imposed against the chongs in the past 6 months? Because the afeemchis are on a dumping spree worldwide?

You are coming to know of one product only coz the Tatas are doing some rr on media. The rest did not even get reported!
