On hold till enough funding is there.
Right now funding is going for more needed systems( capital ships, subs, mine counter measure, aircraft carriers, air wing, asw planes etc).
what if we drdo makes a next gen asw solution and integrates it on rta90 aircraft

I heard that this frigate from Russia cost India $800 million (per unit) which I think is more than p17a.
They each cost roughly $465mil per ship.

I heard that this frigate (INS Tamal) from Russia cost India $800 million (per unit) which I think is more than p17a.
In October 2016, deal was signed for 4 frigates, 2 built in Russia, 2 built in india.
Deal was ~2.5 billion.
cost included cost of all 4 frigates, cost of tech transfer to build the 2 in india, cost of acquisition and absorption of infrastructure and capabilities to build warships( before this deal Goa shipyard limited only built offshore patrol vessels and coast guard vessels).

So we not only acquired 4 frigates, but also created another shipyard which can create frigates, destroyers etc with complex weapon systems.

The two russian built frigates costed 950 million combined.
So 450 million each for russian made frigates

The two to be made in India cost, 1.55 billion dollars.
So 775 million per ship.
But as said before it also includes cost of capability building.

So around 500-700 million out of 2.5 billion deal can be considered as cost of capability building and tech transfer.

So total cost of 1.8-2billion for 4 ship per ship cost of 400-500 million dollars.

All this in 2016's value of money.

No choice to go with this since nobody will give us the ToT for FRP hull manufacturing.

And don't think Navy/Govt is keep to import ships from Italy or Korea or wherever.

Basically the big 3000 ton ship will deploy 2-3 of these little drone boats with the ROV mine hunter and mine disposal drones or a old fashioned minesweeper

Have you been to MDL or GRSE ? I don't think you've for if you did you wouldn't bring this up here because a practically non functional Chinese temple is the least of the security problems in both these shipyards .
