Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

i am not telling that we should have imported the aip, but does this 36000 cr include the cost of adding aip in 6+3 scorpenes

ps: brigadier pratap pls dont leak sensitive information

Don't think so, contract isn't officially signed, but knowing Frenchies this will be an extra charge, not a single euro will be spared.

But then it is said the AIP will be installed while the subs are being built only, it won't be installed during a long refit like for current Kalvari submarines( for which French take moneys for certification and all )

I'm not leaking sensitive information, all this is in public domain if you read up about the AIP saga.

Ideally if the HDW SCAM didn't happen back in the day, and that kuttiya Merkel was friendly towards us, we could have bought Type 214 a decade back and closed P75i acquisition there itself.

Given that now Indian Navy has almost 4 squadrons of fighter jets operational and on order, Navy should also look to procure some Netra AEW&CS to operate from Andamans. We don't have the capability to launch and operate E-2 Hawkeyes from deck anyways. Merge the AEW&CS, ISTAR, EW, SIGINT/ELINT and Aerial Refueller procurement for both services tbh. This demand will only increase in case Indian Navy manages to simultaneously operate 3 aircraft carriers in next 10 to 15 years.

C-295 aircrafts can be good options.

Ig we all want the c295 to be used as awacs atleast but subodh bhai said that iaf rejected drdo's proposal to use c295 for netra mk1a
I dont remember what was the reason

Navy does need some good awacs, i hope govt doesnt do sautela beta behaviour with navy bois

As per this.
Not really part of CATS (Air Force), but NewSpace Abhimanyu is supposed to be the loyal wingman (Naval-Collaborative Combat Aircraft - NCCA) programme for Indian Navy fighter jets. CCAs will be operable from both the aircraft carriers. Can be adapted for Indian Air Force too.

An official from NRT told Janes that the CCA – developed under the government's Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) scheme– has been designed for the Indian Navy and it can be latterly adapted for the Indian Air Force.“The first proof of concept is for the navy,” the official said.

Prototype to be unveiled next year. By 2028 it will be fully mission capable after completing all tests and trials.
The CCA is currently four months into its concept development phase. NRT intends to develop the proof of concept aircraft for the Indian Navy by 2026 and complete platform development in the next three years. “Three years from now we would want it to be fully mission capable including [the] completion of flight tests,” the NRT official said.

According to NRT, Abhimanyu is an unmanned multirole CCA that will be deployed to support manned fighter aircraft. It will be capable of missions including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), decoy, electronic warfare (EW), and air data relay and will be able to carry warhead.
One of the CCA's roles will be to engage with an adversary aircraft without the need for the manned fighter to be within the adversary's detection range. “With an aircraft like Abhimanyu in front of the manned fighter, say 150 km away, the adversary aircraft will detect and engage [with] this first instead of [the] manned fighter,” the official said.

Although given it's size (4 metre wingspan), I wonder how effective it actually will be compared to the projected capabilities it is being envisioned for, especially considering it is supposed to operate from CATOBAR Aircraft Carriers. Air Force's CATS Warrior by the way is 7.6 metre wingspan.

Just when you think these people can't F*ck up things anymore they somehow always do.

• Duplication of Efforts (Why the F*ck isn't this a joint program)
• Inability to form lasting partnership (What happened to HAL newspace partnership)
• Lack of a long term and broader Vision

In my opinion the sum of these Two different Loyal Wingman program would have been a greater success by leveraging Newspace's Software and AI capabilities and HAL's conventional aerospace expertise

HAL's product seems to be a competition to what is likely to be a NRT contract. I think these are years away from entering services. And I don't know if IAF even has any loyal wingman project requirements as of now, Navy has.
