Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

Tell me something , when do you expect our ACs to go to the SCS or ECS or the Yellow Sea to challenge China ? If your answer is anywhere between now & 2040 , I won't bother pursuing the matter with you .

However if you claim we lack a 65,000 ton AC with a CATOBAR possibly with N propulsion , a must if we're to take on China in their own backyard , I'd ask you when is it do you expect such an AC to materialize ?

If your answer is post 2050 , then that's exactly when you'd have the N-AMCA or any other analogue of it .
It's not us going to challenge china, it's chinese carrier coming to us to challenge any blockade we might do near Malacca.

Then ask yourself why do you need a N-AMCA when an AMCA can do the same job ?

As I said few posts back. The Timeline is basically an way of checking the feasibility of the TEDBF.

With 3rd AC on hold. We have Two carriers with 40 Mig29K and now upcoming 26 Rafale. We have total of 66 Fighters and our AC can hold 36+36 aircrafts total. Fighter fleet, ASW fleet.

If AMCA and its tech came out as promised. Then Navy will jump into 5th Gen bandwagon.

That slide also says Deck Based AEW Aircraft. Pls show me an AEW Aircraft that can take off from a STOBAR AC.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves & a be a prisoner to our mindset. That slide represents INs plans for the future.
Helicopter KA 31. Future osprey based AEW perhaps?

Fair point

Do you think that TEDBF will be obsolete by the time it gets ready for production in 2038?
we are not going to see TEDBF fructify, likh ke lelo. The things i have learnt of HAL's mismanagement of the engine program gives me zero confidence.

Looks like the GE F-414 deal was linked to the JV for the Stryker & Javelin . This particular deal is jizia , not that the previous one for Strykers wasn't but all said & done I wonder what repercussions would this have on the IN's MRMR project not in terms of capabilities for it's chalk & cheese really but in terms of the impact on the budget.

Modi's defence expenditure has been incremental not exponential & there's nothing to suggest it'd be exponential in the future given his track record.
The Stryker deal is not a jizya as such, surprisingly. Its a US plan to offload stryker production to somewhere in Asia - such as to make deliveries easier for US forces in the Indo Pacific. The army getting them is a possibility being investigated,

while the stryker weapons package (think Dragoon) is very good, the IA wasnt at all happy with its engine (SURPRISE)

Yes , that was also highlighted by certain commentators on Twitter.

However , with Trump back & his insistence on MAGA , it seems all such plans are in a limbo.

If the navy wants to be a multi carrier force. It needs hundreds of fighter jets. Importing all of them isn't feasible.

So navy will definitely push for an indeginous twin engine naval jet.

Will it be tedbf in current for or something more evolved a bit later remains to be seen.

Trump is egomaniac sure. But even he can cleary see chinese weapons production is outpacing whole of the western world.

Keeping up with China while building in USA would be cost prohibitive.

Something has to give.
