The bloody Israel Hezbollah Iran conflagration has reduced the scope this year. It was supposed to be a 4 carrier event.
Might still happen if by Phase II things quieten down.
2 of ours plus two of uncle sam's ?
That would have been a treat to watch 📈

Is there any value to doing those exercises or is it just another dog and pony show?
Oh sure, there's no value in practicing how to sink a carrier, in practicing both infiltrating a submarine into a carrier's ASW screen nor in learning how to defend said infiltration.

Neither is there any value in practicing the basics of ATC, refuelling underway, logistics of running such a large gathering of ships.

Sab toh kokh se sikh ke aaye hai.

Are those exercises realistic? Do you honestly think that the USN would teach IN on how to sink a carrier, infiltrate a submarine into a carrier's ASW screen or the like?
