Railways is a complete failure under current rail minister. We are back to seeing regular derailments of passenger trains. All gains done until 2020 is being reversed

In railway all failure always blamed on supervisory staff .no body will question training ,operational policy’s ,machine and equipment and lack of man and machines and serious overburdening of staffs (c&D),procurements ,policy’s etc which comes under UPSC babus just like Indian army.
No body will think why same mistake keep happening.

Umm, no. Look up the y-o-y accident data. IR practically eliminated unmanned level crossings (once the biggest contributor to fatalities) - it barely attracted any media attention.

IR's capex and OR were mercilessly screwed during the UPA - it will take time to sort things out. Also, it was the UPA era Railways Ministers who stopped raising general class fares altogether - up until Vajpayee's tenure the fares used to be raised in accordance with the inflation rates; the likes of Lalu and Mamata stopped it. The result was that in a period of extraordinary economic growth IR's financial health actually worsened - which left them at the mercy of the crumbs thrown by FinMin.

Now, it is a political hot potato - no party dares to raise fares and IR keeps operating trains like joy rides (a la Karnataka free bus ride scheme). IR tried to solve it in a roundabout way (by limiting general class coaches) but all it led to was overcrowding.

But every time an incident happens folks at the media keep finding a punching bag - it is the incumbent Railways Min today and it will be someone else tomorrow.

Either way, they will have to bite the bullet some day - unless they stop operating IR like a joyride no amount of track expansion works would help. Tracks will remain congested, incidents will keep taking place and at the end of the day, IR will be left with very little to make tangible investments into safety, capacity and speed upgradation works.

A loco pilot of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express, which derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda on Thursday, claimed that he heard a loud explosion before the accident, Railways sources said.

A loco pilot of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express, which derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda on Thursday, claimed that he heard a loud explosion before the accident, Railways sources said.
