Indian Railways

@Azaad

It is very likely that Gormint has asked Railway board to identify and permanently close redundant posts.
Moreover Zonal General Managers now get targets to meet performance requirements, mostly those meeting these targets are considered for promotion.

If gormint job aficionado could read than they would have been angry.
Looks like the electrification of the IR lines have made quite a few posts related to Diesel Electric Locomotives redundant with those in such posts being shunted out. Pun unintended.

Was bound to happen tbh. The committe they appointed to 'reform' IR units (and PSUs) just stopped short of an outright 'corporatization' in its recommendations.

Moreover the gormint is holding back some 3 lakh jobs in railway. If you go to comment section of any video of Ashwini you will see asspirants gloating about it.
This is also causing some cost overheads and overexploitation in some cases.

This is a very good example of what I was referring to when I've written before on the extremely lop sided priorities & behaviour of IR w.r.t expansion , modernisation , upgradation , etc.

Not only was the tender tech specs of the RRTS framed in such a manner as to keep out what was then theTrain 18 , we've also ensured the entire service is managed by a Foreign external agency without any local partner , by the looks of it .

While China's busy phucking the Europeans especially ze Germans , we're spreading our cheeks for them .
