Noticed something interesting on Milipol 2025

MKU has showcased an AK upgrade kit with sights system, and this upgrade kit looks extremely similar to SSS.

@KAB7777 can you verify pls whether they have a collaboration or not.

I hope we order our private companies like sssd, Lokesh machines, kalyanis to start producing rifles in numbers as ak203 and sig 716 have still not come in no.s And we have a large army to equip in case of extended conflict

They are merely shopping at the same vendor. Also that red dot is reversed, the front handguard is fucked, the dust cover isn't secure and won't hold zero, and the rifle doesn't even have a trigger pack.

Rifle isn't real to begin with, it's a mockup, a very bad one tbh

Ok , so in SSSD mod kits they make the rail , dust cover in house as they have machining capacity (design seems to be inspired). But they don't have moulding so they offer aftermarket pistolgrips , foregrips and stock in their mod package .

Here MKU is also offering the same stock with their kits .

I think MKU should not try to get into mods , LPVO vagera banayo yaar (pls,do a tie-up with Leupold) ye kya choti choti cheijen banaoge .

instead of offering some another AK upgrade kit, MKU guys could have focused on INSAS upgrade kit, something that can free us from FAB imports for that 🤷‍♂️ and giving that INSAS is spread across the nation in state police forces to paramilitary to armed forces, for some good price tag they could offer an incentive to upgrade thousands of them at home

Also add that damn retro looking OFB sniper rifle. Man I would kill to see that in a proper chasis.

of course, but thing is, it was made as per requirements set by the armed forces 🤷‍♂️ they wanted that fullsized wooden stock to start with...

Guess they didn't want to add "Bludgeoning tool" in the requirements along with the Bayonet Lug so wooden stock it is.

What, according to you, is the best solution for the AKM dust cover?
Attach dust cover to front hand guard such that handguard press down dust cover
Don't know but there was one version where dust cover and handguard with mlock was one unit
Thease both should hold zero

What, according to you, is the best solution for the AKM dust cover?
not asked to me but, my opinion,

i personally believe most practical and economical solution with minimum customisation, is what Poles did on their Beryl rifle, somewhat copied on Arsenal M5F41 too... i.e. instead of even touching the dust cover they just affixed a piece of rail itself atop that connects with iron sight block at front and trunnion at rear
Beryl 76239mm.webp
here, that rail piece isn't hinged but has spring-like prongs that firmly holds on those notches made on iron sight block, and in practice it can be lifted up and removed, then the rail itself is elevated a little with canal-like space between them so AK's iron sights can easily be used by looking through them as some sort of BUIS if optics atop goes dud or anything

this requires minimum bench work for AKs that're supposed to be upgraded en masse with as minimum investment as possible, you know...

The first one, I did come up with something similar to the Zenitco solution. The problem being, unable to remove the Gas Tube in the field without using tools.

The second one, I guess, requires modifying the receiver. Isn't it?

What @johny_baba showed seems much better and will probably withstand scrutiny. Indian security forces are too much fixated on FAB PDC.

@BlackViking bhau i remember some amreeki manufacturer making this thing around 2010 times at least
P1060173.webpP1060176.webp
notice it's similar concept, but he made it hinged by sacrificing AK's iron sight while providing a well adjustable peep sight at base of the rail itself, plus it locks on the rear trunnion through that captive pin

if you're into manufacturing, assume that they'll eventually go for FAB style buttstock adapter or AR buffer tube adaptor stock, then make some sort of lock for rear trunnion on rail piece, rest you can think some ideas yourself

also for more reference, just search 'ak beryl rail' on google and you'll find other such rails too, for example this one here
