Sometimes to analyze a system better you have to move away from the inertial frame to non inertial frame .
Same is happening here , people in the system who have seen success with the current gear are not getting the full picture we are seeing.
Same might be true for the other way around but I don't think so.

One more thing , when selecting a material for PC the material must be fire rresistant and shold be strong enough that the material does not ripps off when hit and the plate doesn't fall off .

The material that I see on their PC is no way up to the mark .

In case there are specific intel inputs on enemy, topographic analysis and contingency plan the gear can be then selected , provided budget is sufficient. Indian armed forces have issues with budget, not that they don't know what they require.

Yep the pc setup was similar .
Generally setup can be divided into categories
1. Ultra light/minimalistic .. a rig or slick PC with 3 mags , 4 at max
Best for light engagements and undercover ops .

Medium/Standard Plate Carriers:
Also includes things like medical , radio etc . 4-6 mags generally . Enough to sustain for a regular op with support .

Heavy Plate Carrier Setup :
For heavy combat , may have side plates and abdomen protection . 6+ mags on PC

I don't understand how these brainlets even find the courage to type this vomit on open forums. They have absolutely no idea, and the "jai-ho" cool-aid has done irreparable damage. These people are never open to healthy discussions. They cling onto their limited understandings and never try to expand their horizons. I bet these people upvote "Bisleri boys" posts. It's embarrassing how these people comment with such surety on "equipment choice" and "ops scenarios". These people will never learn nor understand why the best special forces look like the way they do. If any one from "jai-ho gang" is reading this, the only India specific conditions our forces face is the lack of modern equipment without a choice in the matter. And stop yapping about "operator's choice and weight" like a moron ad infinitum. Lightweight plate carriers and high cut helmets exist and beats going naked and without NODs.



PARA is slowly (too slow) adapting but the disparity between the battalions is glaring. Empty plate carriers during exercise, no comtacs, somehow "too difficult" to issue NODs to everyone, never forget the useless shemaghs, awful 20 year old weapon setups, and this is the "best" we've seen on a photo session.


Actual operations are a sad picture of garbage helmets, 5 different camos on each man, horrible bulky load bearing vests, and absolutely no regard for hearing protection or the usage of suppressors. This is the best Army can do for PARA in 2020s. The brave men have no choice but to use what outdated crap they are issued, unless they pay for the good stuff out of their own pockets. And these days they deal with Insurgents wearing level 3-4 ballistic plates, thermal optics, NODs and high velocity ammo. Only good stuff PARA got in recent years are SDRs.

Right now, PARA in it's current state after the airborne battalions were converted, have no business calling itself special forces. The equipment and support elements doesn't match the mandate, and only limits their Ops window, where other credible units would never see such disadvantages. Forget Green Berets, I won't even compare the bulk of PARA to US Ranger SOF at the current state. Indian Navy knows what's up and managed to do it with a lower budget. Had to make this rant because some idiots are too infuriating to bear.
