Can't ID the unit but this is one of the US special forces undergoing CQB training at fort bragg 1999. 25 years later and only 20-30% of para SF is this much equipped.. proper helmets, ballistic protection glasses, better m4 and almost the same optic lol (ig we use comp red dot or eotech ancient holo)

Certainly not the whole para sf bro. I still see the OG Frontline units like 1 and 4 using Mars optic... on their tavors in masses... we haven't even been able to switch to mepro properly let alone magnifiers (and better guns in future)

Not true, it was reality in the early and mid 2000's. First of all 100s of operatives won't go for Op at the same time, secondly the almost every operative is issued a NVS now. And every operative has NVG/TIS available for Ops.

Their are accessories for mounting both mono and binocular NVSs for the Patka!

Vahi to problem hai , u can mount nods on patka with harness but can't mount external power pack . No wonder they will have power issues .
Plus harness on patka will never be stable enough to move and fire with them .

Again bhai the same thing, its on the situation and preference of the operative. No one goes in the jungles with Bi-Nods and Quads hanging on the helmet, it a pain in the ass(neck actually) when you are on a move with even just a helmet, the recent we use Caps and Bumpies...

Btw we use the same monocular NVS for gun mounted and helmet mounted applications! Quads are strictly for the Hit Teams of our SF and even SOF like NSG and SG. BINOs are apt for the MARCOs as they're not even the half of PARA SF in size.

Yes its the same for RR and SOG. We mount on weapon p-rail when the helmet doesn't come with a mounting bracket

Okay. My reply:

1. My comments are strictly on operator ease & comfort & freedom to choose what he/she wears. Notwithstanding people's perception, its the operator's choice.

2. M4 & scopes were very much there in my time too. Stop peddling nonsense like we didnt have them.

3. There is no question that things need to improve. My tweets on that have been there too. But stupid comments have to be rebutted.

4. NVG are rarely used in continuous mode. Your batteries will discharge quickly. When you are chasing track, you are out for days & you use them only for scans. If someone thinks that 24x7 you can use NVG, especially in cold (where battery performance is degraded) when you are out for days tracking a track, you live in an alternate galaxy.

5. Side note: we had Negev, Galil, Cornershots back in the day in SG. 2002. So, pretty amusing to note newbies claiming fame for it.

2. Woah scope on a SOPMOD M4. How about standardized LAMs, suppressors, etc. Or does PARA always like going loud ?

4. That's why you flip them up and keep them off. And take an additional battery pack along. You don't call home to have your NVGs delivered on the field because you stayed out too long and now the sun is setting.
