Indian Special Forces

You cant compare Major rank Jacob with a Brigader rank Thapa and say Major Jacob got no one killed!

How many people did Major Jacob had under him?

Brigader Thapa had 18 Major Jacobs and 6 higher ranking Lt col and Col under him and also Marcos under him.

When most of us understand Army very well we will understand Major rank is not a rank to brag about not getting anyone killed.

Real sttuff of responsibility starts from Colonel rank upto General rank in this.
And when did I compare Maj Jacob to Brig Thapa?!

I was simply replying to Jedi bhai's msg & my answer was framed in a way to answer the backlash maj jacob gets for his initial 2-3 interviews.

Not connected to Brig Thapa in anyways.

Chill!

That's very much true...the fact that Major Jacob never lost anyone in an operation shows his tactical accumen as a leader of a squad or a troop. Brigader Thapa on the other hand was responsible for operations he was not personally involved in. Which is a much bigger responsibilty to take.

Major Avinash and many others also havent lost a man under them.

I thought your comment was on Brigader Thapa as he had claimed 5 people died under him .

Look i am not a big fan of Brig Thapa as i thought he was getting too distracted in the interview from the real discussion.

But the man is a Brigade commander that too from a Para unit like 9..its a big deal guys.

Major rank is not hard to get..many officers fail to even pass exams to become a Lt col and retire and BS that they wanted adventure in life.

So i am just giving respect to his rank and experience!

I Don't think so , the chances of them putting a similar sticker like L3 is grim .

Also Tata screwdriveres PVS 31s but I have never seen them even accept that they licence manufactur them , everywhere they call it rajak not PVS31 , it's more like as if they got the tot .

ToT=Screwdrivergiri in most cases.

Exelis was acquired by L3Harris who partnered with TASL, which makes the AN PVS-31. Connect the dots, companies rarely acknowledge the nitty-gritty parts.

MKUs partner for their Optronics is Thales, though they have some degree of R&D involved here.

Photonis of France is BELs partner in the I2 sphere.

Tab toh rajak hi lena chaiye tha.

Might be initial units being from l3 Harris for testing and orders would be from tata
But I still think it's typical screwdrivergiri with little to nil know-how infact could be initial units from tata which were only assembled without any indigenous content

I am stubborn about it bcoz afaik and interacted all binods which we are getting are from tata coz it was the deal that all pvs-31 or rajak will be procured through tata

Actually the story is a bit different the new airborne to sf converted units are getting these FTs to cover the gap rn it’s a mix of tavor and AKs that’s why more tavors are getting ordered if Arads were to be inducted they will be inducted in the best units first which already uses m4s(you know who) so no need to worry

In a squad, scout and team leader should have quads baki binods, imo.

Iss hisaab se for each SF unit, 200 quads aur 400 binods hone chaiye😃
I'd have to disagree. It's completely mission-specific. For example, you're better off with quads in a CQB scenario but for long-duration jungle ops or recon ops, binods would be the superior choice because they're lighter.
