Indian Special Forces

Do we have or had any unit equivalent to British Pathfinder platoon?

If not, Do you think we need one?

+ I have always wondered about the formations inside SF units, its currenty a modified version of infantry units where companies are called teams and further divided into squads rather than platoons. So, would squadron like formations be more efficient for them?

Correct me if wrong
(Just recently started learning about formations and roles for units)

Don't think they will be bringing new weapons to Army Day even if they have procured new ones as TAR is really attached to their Identity as a unit - Saw some rehearsal pics, they still have TAR with new camo and beret so expect the same Army Day look as before i.e. new Camo Uniforms (nothing on top of it), berets, TAR with their style of march + para motor/jump and robo kutta demonstration

Saw this video probably shared by someone here.

Joined in 1986, was in the initial 5 batches of the IMSF
Mentions about being trained in Sarsawa.
Also speaks on various trainings like Intelligence Gathering course, Bomb Disposal, Photography and Driving.
Says they went for specialised training near Delhi for room intervention and some more type of commando training.
Also mentions training before being deployed in new areas on language and culture.

2nd Batch of IMSF.....he was sent to North East too, his first mission was Op Cactus in Maldives, then cotninued with IPKF deployment and was in Op Zabardust also, where MVC Cdr Arvind Singh was awarded Nao Sena medal (then he was Lt Cdr). He went to Kashmir towards the end of his career in early 2000s

What I found facinating was that he mentions that during the initial years of IMSF, sometimes they'd be on a train to Mumbai and immidiatly be called for a deployment somewhere else and he says it was not unusual for someone to get no holidays in the navy for about 3 years
