Makes SPG look like chumps. And they are supposed to pull security for the PM without helmets even. I don't know what threat assessment for the PM looks like these days, but if you arm personnel and give them a special mission mandate, they should be prepared to take return fire. A simple idea that seems lost in hand waving.

Garuds should raise 3 airborne battalions and deploy and rotate 2 companies in active field area for 6 months.

Marcos should raise a proper marine brigade with APC and all.Should deploy them in field area like Garud airborne battalion i mentioned.

Army’s chapri marine brigade is upto no good.

I disagree with MARCOS raising a Marine Brigade, MARCOS has nothing to do with Marine infantry stuff, it's a special warfare unit not amphibious infantry. It's upto the navy to set a Marine brigade. That can be called 'Marine Commandos' like UK's Royal Marines. MARCOS can be renamed 'IMSF' back to Indian Marine Special Forces' which suit them more.

I think now that they have done what they have …some units of Guards or Grenadiers should be converted.

I am for a regionless,religionless unit for airborne conversion rather than choosing the best infantry unit of that time to convert.

Bro the whole concept of Para regiment in India is flawed.We cannot compare the airborne units of US or UK with india in terms of capabilities of men .Here almost all of the regular Para men are SF wannabes who didn’t got alloted SF slots as there was none .There is high probability that many kf these men might got selected into SF if they were send to some SF regiment for trials.I assume you understood what i meant.This is a serious flaw in our system.May be we could be losing best men for SF in some cases just because there was no vacancy in SF that year and only airborne was available and after clearing probation in airborne many might not go for just another probation.
Btw i know a guy who served both in 1st SF and 4th(in both airborne time and later SF time also).
We need to find solutions for this one also.For that dismantling of the system is needed.We should give men options to choose for airborne or SF for trials instead of unavailablity of option system at present.
Also converting a normal infantry unit to airborne may dilute the standards so either conduct trials from entire infantry units or atleast limit it from ghatak units or QRTs or raise them fresh .

Weapons handling skills have gotten better, but notice how he is struggling to get the pistol out of the holster? They need a better holster. They need something like this which clears the plate carrier and provides enough leverage when drawing the pistol.
