Indian Special Forces

SAS ran up and down the mountain and got lost. GSG9+ Norwegians (i think) didnt step outside Delhi.
They were so condesending to our troops so now they are PNG from our Paras - no more cross training/interactions etc.

The SAS were also advisors during the first Golden Temple Seige
I have heard though that Indian MARCOS and SAS Water troop cross trained around Diego Garcia, I never understood why not send the SBS instead. But SBS conducts regular exercises with our guys, not so much so during GWOT time cause they were busy as hell and did'nt possibly care enough. We did train with Royal Marines during that time

What I am surprised is that itne Tier 1 Units aane ke baad bhi NSG isn't taking any lessons. Only take in 30% of the Knowledge. Pata ni kyun
Yaar I wont name anyone but I have asked a particular guy who served in 'NSG' regaurding that famous drill we got roasted about in reddit and his answer was, and I'm not kidding 'Training is not about what works what doesn’t work. '

I have stopped asking these questions to these guys now because all I get is some rhetorical answer or some excuse

Yeah..

I would agree that in terms of weapon handling and laying down ambush or cordon plus in Urban warfare i would put my money on a RR trooper rather than a jawan of a infantry battalion with no experience in RR.

But like @rkhanna said the RR units are no way more superior than Infantry units.
RR units can do jungle warfare, urban warfare or perhaps even there shooting skills are probably better than regualr infantry units.

But their mandate, training and experience is in CI/CT. In a real war, RR couldnt do more than a section attack on the enemy if chosen for. The cant carry those big ops like regular infantry

During that time 9 and other para units could mog any other forign outfit when it came to CI/CT operations .

In some ways I am thankful for LTTE , the experience our SF gained in Lanka was the reason they were able to hit back hard when kashmir exploded .

Seems like the PARA SF are picking up some lessons from AFSOD.

View attachment 25604marcos motivated them. If your soldiers start ditching their own gear and begin borrowing the Navy's gear for photo shoots and Instagram posts, you'll know that the shit has hit the fan.
