Indian Special Forces

There's no confirmation of SF getting any new rifle other than replacing old gen tavors with flat tops tars. No one's sure when the carbine tender will happen (after being scrapped in 2018/2020 - which Caracal won). Arad was mentioned only once, that too by IDRW but we can consider it was being tested. Other than that only arad bhai has namedropped it a couple times.

My personal opinion is that SF wouldn't get new ARs separately as they're clearly treated like the step-child by the army. I mean NC got 3500 eotech holo + mag configs from star aerospace - guess how many SF got from that bunch.

And no, SSS M72 will never become our desi sopmod mk1/2. Y'all know why...

IDF is trialing out Arad with some computerised firing control device named Arbel 🤷‍♂️
it's some thing added to lower receivers/trigger groups of firearms like Arad, Negev etc for more controlled firing towards target, probably uses AI or such gimmicks
read the brochure at - https://iwi.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/IWI_ARBEL_brochure_2024_En.pdf
Its a FCR, you point the weapon in the direction of the enemy, press the trigger and it will fire a single or burst automatically(depending on the target0 once the target is in LoS.

I personally feel like car 816 would be the best suit. Its a direct copy of the sig 516, which itself is loosely based on the hk416. And we know enough about hk 416 in specops. NOT AN EXPERT JUST AN OPINION

Our opinions are dog shit to people in procurement. Only trials + *other factors* will decide the winner.

SIG516 (and 716 too) has more 'traditional' style of short stroke gas piston system on it that can be disassembled without taking the handguards off, it's also adjustable type with four distinct positions, 'normal', 'adverse', 'silenced' and 'off

here, operator's manuals

HK416 took its short stroke gas piston system straight from G36 with that 'self adjusting' gas piston, no manual adjustments here, and taking gas system apart requires removal of the handguards which may need a wrench tool (usually provided with a rifle itself)
here, manual

This guy is very soon gonna become the meme of India to the worlds weapons community.

The amount of shame and cringe the military of this country brings to the image of the country is very soon gonna go up.

And all this will really help the image of an average Indian man to go down as the ones who cant fight like it is assumed coz its a Gandhigiri nation.

This stance is older than the Indian constitution. There has been over 2-3 evolutions in pistol techniques since WW2. Exactly why is this shit in training still. Instead of you know ? an actually effective stance that lets you move and react fast, and go two handed on the fly, and even transition to center axis relock ?

This is exactly what I'm trying to say, if a system meets the QR and FRs then it should be inducted. Be it Arad, Car-816, T4 or M72, but the catch is 'if'.

Let the forces buy what it finds suitable and meets the QRs? No!!

Questions

1. Was the Sig 716 (762) a requirement of the Forces? If so, What Case-use studies were done? How did the Forces find the 762/Sig Suitable?

2. What is the process of framing the QRs and FRs - generals in air conditioned rooms or soldiers on the ground play a part?
- Do they follow a scientific method or are we stuck in an argument of "authority fallacy"?

Interesting excerpt from the NSG operation during 26/11

Commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG) were caught by surprise on Friday afternoon when they were fired at by an MP5 submachine gun. Till then, they were being fired at only by AK47s.
This led the NSG to believe that the terrorists were more heavily armed than they had thought. But the mystery was solved when they realised that the terrorists had seized Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s weapon after killing him. The NSG feel that the acquisition of this weapon had extended their resistance by a few hours. This is also an indication, said a senior officer, that the terrorists were trained in the use of this sophisticated weapon as well.

The point you said is discussed million times already. One word;corruption.SLR was replaced citing the exact opposite reasons which was cited to induct Sig716 😝

yes, he was a heavy metal drummer and a geek too, he's really an amazing dude
He was also part of a tv series where him and another officer got bullied by a single civil guy with a decent physique..

In the next episode they invited a tall and muscular Infantry Army officer to bully that particular candidate..
