This looks professional...unlike Para SF moving like 'ladies' constantly flagging one another

yea using these tactics with Tavors would make them look that way too....imagine handling a Tavor like an AK. AK is front-heavy, usually gripped further out so it makes sense but Tavor is rear-heavy due to bullpup front-grip handling throws off balance so you see that awkwardness. So if you are to handel an AK like you handel a Tavor, you'll fumble to find the mag release or charging handle. The rear weight distribution throws off your muzzle control which we see often with Para SF. And you'll be fighting the weapon instead of flowing with it.

But this is exactly the CQB doctrine or 'type' Para SF follow

Marcos has transformed themselves into something of a concept which was and still is completely unknown to rest of Indian military SF. Kudos to their leadership which took timely decisions paved towards almost world class modernisation achieved in less then a decade.

I feel like our arad operator can tell this better, but from my side, you'll start to see more and more troops in equivalent kit to marcos but things like CQB and other niche stuff ? You won't see much improvement in some units while some will be exceptional in that stuff.

SF is not the priority.

I feel major push for Infantry modernisation be done.

This time around they were not even included in the bigger plan.

I know there are some rumours of some of SF being next to target areas but that could be done by any Raw asset too.

Slow progressive modernisation is the way.

And btw with the attitude Indian SF has it cannot be sudden also.

This war opened my eyes about other assets for a modern war and i agree with the Indian leadership to not give priority to SF.

( some may think i have lost hope which i have not i just think other platforms can do a better job)

Some time ago, we had this discussion about SG, what is it like, why does it overlaps SF in Kashmir, what even is it's role in COIN if it works for under Cab Sec ???

I think I found the answer in this book written by an ex Army Offcier who served with R&AW also....indirectly hinting us about what the hell are we even doing ??

This clearly explains the statement by Lt Gen PC Katoch that if SG is doing so and so things why was it not acting as deterrence. My two cents are that TSD was created where SG had failed to deliver. I could very well be wrong. But you can think of this, that no agency in India is flawless.

Also thing might have changed long after this, the book is called: India's External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW, by Maj Gen VK Singh (not the former army cheif)
it was a fun read but blackpilling as well

And another point most member here seems to be obsessed with c clamp but for AK i believe mag griping is best and comfortable for cqb
and for 716 it is worst but our soldier tend to mag grip it or hold it akwardly due to i believe mlock with bare hands or cut gloves isn't comfortable to c clamp

There are different ways to grip a gun. If the C-clamp grip works, use that. I found this on youtube most probably russian trainers notice where the thumb goes ,this could also be a great way to grip an AK.

IMO short sighted. We may/could well see ourselves fighting on 2.5 fronts in the future - the .5 is our Eastern Flank.

Tech and Fast moving Air Assets are fine in the planes of Punjab and the valleys of POK. IMO we will need SOF against the Chinese - Deep inside Tibet. Against Insurgents on our eastern flank in the Jungles.

If and when we fight a peer (Pakistaan is NOT) - we will need an offensive Asymetrical Capability - Human, Cyber, ELINT, EW etc etc - We need to prep NOW

Without SF capabilities we will be toast against Pak and China on full fledge conflicts.

India going deep inside Tibet and Chinese going deep inside India will never happen..not capability but intention and objective.

I didnt say to disband them.

I just said to not make them priority and focus on other things which are force multiplying platforms.
