That is most likely the probability - but a wider conflict with China is not outside the realm of possibility.

Musings of my board mind only.

1. in the next 15-20 years you will see China make push to replace America as the dominant power.
2. Will take a couple of decades for that to play out. Asia/SEA/SOuth Asia / IOR / Africa will be the battle ground - Direct Confrontation and Proxy
3. They Will Take Taiwan and their other "claimed territories" - its part of their own mythology that they need to see through.
4. China cannot become the World Super Power without going at India
- India has the potential to be the power in waiting towards China
- India will be the western proxy against China
- India CHina will either go at it via proxy or direct confrontation
- even a short border war will see us do LRRP into the plateau - SFF will need to earn its bread be wrecking havoc behind enemy lines.
- Chinese Proxy will be via Nepal, Lanka, Pak, Bangla
- Our Proxy will be Tibetian, Ujjiar, etc etc

IMO - SOF upgrade will need to be parrellel to everything.

Yes thatswhy i said slow systematic modernisation is what is needed.

And more than weapons and equipment we need a refinement of modern training techniques.

Yesterday i was watching a French/Canadian fighter pilot assessing India Pakistan air conflict and while analysing Rafale hit claim he was as neutral as it gets explaining the psyche behind things and he very critically claimed that the best quality of a fighter pilot is humility bcoz that keeps everything safe at the end of the day.

I am an officer myself and i love analysing such things and i could definitely see the difference between him and many others that i have met.

But nothings lost and its all a process..Life is a sprint and not a marathon.

Abhi bhi acche se aayi nhi hai new combat dress army meh, toh agar thoda change karlen itni dikat nhi honi chahiye

Even if majority infantrymen won't use most of the features just leave it there as an option like those integrated knee/elbow pads and bottom 'tightening' straps. . . Just these small changes

features ke naam pe bus pen ka slot bana diya hai

Looking at how commanders play it safe, probably RR got intel on them entering the forested area and cordoned it off, SF entered
