The Babus already had low expectations of the left thought Trump will bring respite are going to throw US India relations into cold storage.

if he manages to get Iran to scale back it's nuclear program the use for Pakistan and to keep them afloat is far less, we may even see Balochistan being recognised as an independent country if they give them something in return. I don't think our policy makers will budge as they came out with quite a terse point by point clarification the other day contradicting him when they didn't need to.

With Trump watch what he does not what he says. Most of what he says is for the benefit of his domestic audience. Even as far as his actions go , let's take the case of China .

Who here with 2 brain cells working thought Trump would continue with those 100% tariffs on Chinese imports into the US ? Would that not crash the US economy given their almost crippling dependency on China & a whole host of nations for essential stuff ?

And what happened ? The Chinese blinked in spite of being reminded daily courtesy Wumaos here that exports to the US isn't more than 12-15% of their total exports or a negligible part of their GDP.

Today US tariffs on Chinese imports stands at 30% & Chinese tariffs on US imports stands at 10% . Now extrapolate that bit of information to the latest iPhone Apple will import from China for sale into the US vis a vis what it would be like for a like model from India.

And we're supposed to be signing an FTA with the US as opposed to China signing an FTA with the US , Trump's public admonishments to Tim Cook notwithstanding. That's playing to his domestic audience.

See his statements on defusing the tension between India & Pakistan in the same light including claiming credit for it . He can say what he wants . Focus on what we do & they do on the matter.

If like Trump says they set up a meeting in a third country & actively play mediator like they did in his last administration between Israel & the various Arab states getting them to sign the Abraham Accords , I'd admit the Modi government has kowtowed to Trump. Otherwise this is pure posturing.

What is more worrying for Bharat is a potential G2 deal between Doland and Xi.

Don't think Doland gives a flying F about throwing India under the bus as long as that means he gets Xi to fly down to Washington and sign a grand trade deal. The Hans are shrewd enough to take the deal if its a good medium term move. Xi gets to play kingmaker in Asia... he takes back Taiwan, arm Paxstan, Kanglus and SE Asia to keep us muddled in wars, scuttle India's growth by blocking relocation of manufacturing supply chains. In the long term, he's got structural economic advantage over the US anyways so the Hans come out on top by 2050.

This is a good theory that it is a "cease-fire" since both have each other's balls in their hands, one side squeezes and the other can also.

An actual G2 can only take place if US is willing to cede Japan, SoKo, Pinoypines, Taiwan and the rest of SEAsia and maybe even Australia to Choyna as it's Sphere of Influence, like how the Soviets got all of Eastern Europe and half of Germany.

I don't think they will do that willingly, ceding Taiwan will also have a domino effect to that regard.
