Open Letter to President Trump
Dear President Trump,
You often speak of wanting strong ties with India. At times you are friend of Pakistan too by giving them loans & military aid. This choice matters deeply to India. The people of India—and its centre-right government—have gone out of their way to extend goodwill towards you and your administration.
Today, nearly half a million bright and highly skilled young Indians are working in your tech sector, providing world-class services at a fraction of the cost. Over five million Indian-origin Americans—doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists—have built their lives in the U.S., contributing significantly to your healthcare system, infrastructure, and economy. These individuals have added great value to America, and continue to do so with loyalty and excellence.
So why, then, do you choose to support forces that threaten India’s peace and dignity at home.
What has Pakistan truly given America? It stole your nuclear secrets and built a bomb. It sheltered Osama bin Laden for nearly a decade. It empowered the Taliban, ultimately leading to America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. It was complicit in the brutal murder of journalist Daniel Pearl. And despite receiving over $30 billion in aid, it continues to fuel radicalism and jihad with the aim of either converting or destroying what stands in opposition to its ideology—including America.
In contrast, India has been a steadfast partner in democracy, development, and peace. Yet, when 26 innocent Indian civilians—Hindus—were slaughtered in a terrorist attack planned from Pakistani soil, your administration chose silence.
Why?
Who within your circle is advising you to turn your back on India and side with a nation that has repeatedly betrayed American trust?
President Trump, this is a moment for reflection. The era when America could intimidate India, as it attempted to in 1971 by sending a nuclear-armed fleet, is over. Today, India stands ready to respond with strength and resolve.
We urge you: reconsider your policies. Reevaluate your alliances. Choose wisely. The friendship of a billion Indians is not something to take lightly.
