Our capability is more or less at Israel level, we can target tunnel entrances and exits but not structures buried deeper than 10-15m (especially in mountains).

That's why I think DRDO and Indian Armed forces should look at developing hyunmoo 5 type of missile.

They were stupid enough to pick a fight with Israelis and Americans without somehow securing explicit guarantees and agreements with Russia and China, which should've been done like... 5 years ago, long before these retards had their proxies do Oct 7th. The Ayatollah should've visited China every 6 months or so, opened up the market for Chinese investment, deepened cooperation with Russia over Syria and what not.

Given those precedents, it isn't too far fetched to think that Iran would tighten the noose around it's neck with this move if the mullah regime believes it is on it's last legs anyway.

Iran has non kinetic means of blocking hormuz. At its narrowest, straight if hormuz has four channels for shipping that are roughly 100m wide. That's not a big area. Iran can, in theory, sink a few ships of its own there and fuckup the lanes. Sunken ships are difficult to dislodge and its a lengthy operation to do so. Question is, can Iran sneek out half a dozen tankers of their own to scuttle in middle of hormuz.

It's still a very salvageable situation for the regime though. They can stop trying to be the big dogs and focus on rebuilding their capability and maintaining their rule.
THIS would basically guarantee a very overt and strong military response along with approval from most key players on the world stage, even the ones who have not voiced support for these operations and just want to be left alone.

I think P18 is supposed to be cruiser equivalent and is the Indian response to Type 55 destroyer

in theory, they are not that wrong, having that many missiles on a single platform runs the risk of putting all eggs in a basket, if one of these P-18 class gets sunk or even hit, there would a huge loss of ammo.

IMO, P-18 should be more geared towards AD and more specifically BMD capable AD, having frigate level vessels for more offensive roles would be better.

Except we can most definitely target any subterranean structure if push came to shove coz we have nukes. Remember we have greater operational flexibility with nukes than israel - we are already declared power, israel is not. That has huge ramifications for operational usability.
India is also infinitely more capable in g2g rocket tech as well as slbm tech than israel, coz we are a space power. When it comes to ground to ground or ship to ground, space powers bat at whole different league than non space powers, coz ballistic missiles and space rockets are same area of tech pretty much exactly, down to just some practicality differences and if you can target a freaking crater on moon to land on, you can blow up donny's toilet in the west wing with pin point accuracy if you wish to. Pretty much all space powers- like usa, Japan China and India can do this and they bat at a whole new level than non space entities on these types of missiles.
The a2a is less dependent/synergized with space program coz it's more to do with high resolution radar guidance over much shorter distances ( 40-150/200km) and as such a2a missiles have more experts floating around than just g2g missile or slbm missile tech.

Israel is quite tech capable and they have some kickass weapons themselves but let's not pretend that it's a Britain vs Maratha kind of " superior in every military tech and tactics" known to man. India holds significant edge over Israel in tech in some sectors ( as mentioned above) and also operational expertise: Israel can't teach us a whole lot on how to fight in a desert but we sure as hell can school the yahood on how to fight in a jungle or himalayas. We also may point out that israel gets it's ass handed to it trying to occupy Gaza- so much so that they left in 2007 and we have managed to not only hold but win back significant ground in hearts and Minds while pulling off a similar scenario in kashmir valley for decades- sending our troops to live and maintain order amongst a dense cluster of muzzies, most of whom hates or hated the army.

So credit and alliance where it's due but let's not overinfkate or understate a side vis a vis us.

Unlike the USSR and India back in the day, there is no real understanding between Iran and China. There is no shared ideology and no shared vision of the global order. The only things they align on a bilateral level is that both oppose the US (that too for their own different reasons) and that there is a customer-seller relationship between them as far as the oil is concerned. If China is given the guarantee of continued oil supply, I don't think there is any real reason China has to get involved besides projecting power and establish itself as a true superpower.

There would've been some hope of intervention and arming up if the Iranian regime showed some sign of fighting back properly too, like the Ukrainians who valiantly held the line against the Russian invading force for 2-3 months which gave NATO the confidence to start arming them, knowing that the risk of Ukraine's capitulation is worth the pound of flesh they'll extract from Russia. The Iranians, on the other hand, with the exception of a few ballistic missiles have gotten dominated. After the humiliation Chinese air defense faced in Operation Sindhoor, why would they risk further spitroasting at the hands of Israel?
