Not at all JLR tech is forbidden for TATA. TATA is using the D8 platform of them, the problem with Ingenium they could not able to bring the cost of engine less in India. But they never mentioned where the cost factor is high in that tech.
One factor I believe is these engines were using VVT based on Fiat design, I think this is the problem since European manufacturer parents were very hard to deal with and most probably Stellantis asked huge amount. Thus they may have dropped down the entire proposal. Since TATA is not going to invest in VVT tech citing EVs, they are ok with anemic powerplants like 1.2L Revotron, Vibey but reliable 1.5L Revotorq and the ageing 2.0L Diesel from FCA.
