The Mexico City Metro is a rapid transit system that serves the metropolitan area of Mexico City, including some municipalities in the State of Mexico. Operated by the Sistema de Transporte Colectivo, it is the second largest metro system in North America after the New York City

More than half of Argentines live in poverty, according to figures from the Social Debt Observatory of the Argentine Catholic University. The president, Javier Milei, asks for patience and assures that his recipe for economic "shock" will bear fruit.

Interesting. I didn't know Argentina had slum like conditions for it's poor. It always made an image in the media of being in the same league as Portugal or Cyprus in terms of standard of living.

But Milei's policies will definitely show positive results over the medium and long term. Classic austrian school of economics.

Saddly we have poverty in latin America, there are many reasons, from technology dependance, corruption, racism.

Argentina in 1900s was a wealthy country, but in the XXI century it is not, in the 1900s was one of the best countries to live, now it is not.

In latin America still is not doing so bad, but as the leader of South America, it has been dethrone by Brasil
and Colombia to some degree.

In Latin america Mexico and Brazil are the leading countries but we have worse poverty than Argentina in terms big numbers,

Racism and corruptions are the main factors affecting our societies, usually racial make up has great influence in the wealth a person has, because access to education are privilaged by some ethnic groups.

There is not a direct racism, since there is social mobility even among people of different races, but corruption is a direct result of ignorance, since ignorant politicians only want to make wealth by enbezzlement and theft.

if you check corruption both Brazil, Mexico or Argentina are consider more corrupt than India.

I remember reading somewhere that Argentina in the early 1900's was one of the world's richest countries, second only to the US. From that point onwards, the fall was pretty steep.

Whether Javier's shock therapy will change it or not remains to be seen.

there are many factors why they are poorer now.

Argentina is a nation of immigrants, mostly Spanish and Italians in the XX century later bolivians and paraguayans.

the Italian immigrant was from north Italy and wealthy so less immigrants moved to Argentina than to the USA where poorer Italians moved in mass.
The Falkland war also affected them since the USA and England do not want Argentina to grow technologically, specially militarily.

Brazil too took many Italian immigrants, thus Argentina being so far got less immigration.

So it is a big country with little population.

It is estimated that between 1857 and 1947, 2,967,759 peninsular immigrants arrived, of which 1,491,034 returned to their homeland. That is, in those 90 years, 1,476,725 Italians settled permanently.

Brazil and Mexico have larger populations and are closer to developed economies.
Argentina is to Brazil up to some degree what Ukraine is to Russia.

Argentina thus has fallen because relatively has a very small population 1/3 of Mexico and 1/5 of Brazil.

Bolivians and paraguay immigration usually has less skilled workers thus compared to the Italian immigrants can not help to develop a more developed country. thus poverty has increased.

Same is Mexico and the whole of Latin america where ethnicity will determine the skills people have, thus some ethnicities do better than others.

However all these nations are trying to eliminated racial privilages, specially in Education and technical education to generate a more skilled labour force.

During my masters in Europe, I met a few Mexican students who looked completely European, with light brown hair and grey eyes. Not even a hint of brown. It was only those type of Mexican nationals that I saw in Europe, which is strange, but it makes sense when you explain that race plays a part in how many options you have when you're from Latin America.

Wait there is only onerace in Argentina so who is racist towards whom ???

Wait there is only onerace in Argentina so who is racist towards whom ???
Argentina is mostly European but there natives from Bolivia and Peru and mestizos from Paraguay.
However during the XVI to the XVIII centuries Spain ruled over England and Portugal, so after the Falkands war, the Western powers decided to neutrilize the potential new Spanish speaking power.

So from the 1980s the West supported weak governments in Argentina, and Brazil tried to weaken a potencial Argentina union with Uruguay.

However by 2020s there are plenty of bolivians and Peruvians in Argentina.
Brazil has also achieved the role of leader of South America, and the Spanish speaking countries remain separated, thus the main power is the USA and a much weaker Brazil.

Brazil knows sooner or later South America will unite and the Spanish countries will balance Brazil.

there are two factors that pressure Argentina one was that previous to 1982 Argentina had a missile and nuclear program

1720356145344.png

they were producing Tanks, jet aircraft, submarines and other type of weapons
1720356317431.png
1720356276685.png
So they used the excuse of Pacifism to disarm Argentina and Brazil saw the oportunity of make an alliance with Argentina but Argentina playing the junior partner

1720356469541.png

So they signed Mercosur, up to a degree an anti-western alliance so Brazil used Argentina as a way to block a USA dominated South America.

So Argentina wasn't sovereign enough.
So there potential mic & countries stature was subverted by foreign powers with there puppets being in power.

we are not a race, in Latin America you will meet people from many races and mixed races, the Idea Mexicans are dark, is just pure fantasy, there are white and brown Mexicans however around 70% are brown and 25% white.
the term white also is misleading since pure Europeans in Mexico are a minority, perhaps 10-15% the rest of white people are partially white, they might look European but they might have some native or african blood, same is brown people, around 60% of brown people have European admixture, like Me, I am Mestizo with native american-Spanish-Italian-Finnish blood.

Pretty much we are very similar to Indian and arab people, sometimes we look alike.
There are also mongoloid looking Mexican.

correct that is partially true because Spain and Italy are also subdued by the Anglosaxon powers so they can not help Argentina and in 1982 that was evident

IMF affirms that Venezuela would be the LATAM economy with the most growth in 2024
The IMF analysis in its report “Global Economic Prospects for 2024” highlights the growth potential of the Venezuelan economy

In Venezuela more than half of the population lives below the extreme poverty line. A discouraging figure, but which, however, represents a reduction of 14.7 percentage points when compared to last year. It is the first time in seven years that this index registers an improvement
