Its very confusing at this point. I don't understand then what change for HAL to mention this in February if they were going through this model..
Tejas mk1a has more optimised wing, I.e some structural changes in the wing compared to mk1
includes a redesigned pylon for reduced drag, strengthened wing edges to for more land bearing.
 
still stand by my point.

Current status quo suits all stakeholders you can name.

Tejas and the other atmanirbhar projects are all un-serious projects.

The blame game is also structured in such a way that it's spider-men pointing at each other.
No one party fears any danda of consequence because they can always point at the other guy


When Kolkata class was getting delayed, which was mainly because

>Admirals discovered the MF-STAR and Barak8 combo and had to mod the previous Soviet maal based design
>While the first Kolkata was built the Admirals suddenly wanted bow mounted sonar and this needed hull changes
>Barak8 was co-developed with jooz so this too faced some delays.

Now when patrakars wrote about this it was the navy only getting the blame, because they were leading the whole project top to bottom, even if MoD babooze, CAG babooze and Politicucks like Chidambaram would ask anything it would be Admirols only getting most of the blame( DRDO guys also get some ).

Only way to solve this 👇

The push for domestic aircraft projects either has to come from PMO/DefMin( Remove NindaTurtle and get someone interested, like how Parrikar was )

or from IAF itself being given control of HAL with their own design group like WDB, ADA guys or just professional aeronautical engineers can be hired for this.

And most importantly, big budgets, ample funding, quick project sanctions.

Remember goys, eventually Tejas will get delivered, but the national focus should now be on AMCA and with the current ((( model ))) it's just not possible.
Current model is flawed. It is a khichdi. There is serious lack of communication between every stakeholder. And the one who should interfere and establish a proper channel of communication i.e MoD is sleeping tight.

I am not promoting conspiracy theories but many problems exists
Infact many handles are reporting that wings and rudders weren't delivered yet by pvt companies for which they were given orders

Most important fuck up was hal didn't provide aircrafts to drdo for EW certification
Everyone kept blaming GE but we didn't do work properly too
Even if we had engines we wouldn't have delivered aircrafts in full potential as many software patches and weapon integrations are still remaining

It's not just a communication issue
It is an issue of there not being a strong "push" for Tejas.

For Warships it's the Navy itself that pushes for it's requirements to MoD babooze for approvals and funding, does the design and gets shipbuilders to build it.

For ICBM, SSBN, Nuclear weapons project it was the Govt itself that was pushing the development for these.

imo I'd prefer a push led by the Govt itself, the "service based push" is still limited in budget and control over orgs like DRDO.

Atleast the IAF would have the jets flying.
Software patches and weapons integrations could happen later and could be rolled out to existing planes in service.

GE engine issue is the biggest problem by far.
 
One Q, now 20 years back why didn't they decide to go with a larger Gripen-like design over the mini-samosa Tejas?

Basically why didn't they go with the Gripen or Tejas mk2 MWF sized design from the start?

Our resources were limited. We saw Mirage 2000 and wanted to build something similar before building something bigger. It made sense because of our financial constraints. We only wanted to build point defense fighter not a air superiority fighter. Thankfully, with some modifications to the same design we can now build MK1A and MK2. Let us see MK2 first flight.

We are also talking about 1980's and 1990's where technology especially computers weren't that powerful. This meant any complex design required lot of work in terms of wind tunnel testing, CAD drawings, simulations on less powerful computers, control algorithms required to control the aircraft etc. I don't take IDRW seriously always, but every now and then they dish out some good stuff.

Just check this one out about MK2 manufacturing today

Tbh the planner had pretty good success with their original engine project. And many other things then. So they were rather optimistic about Kaveri and Tejas.
