North East States: Law and Order

Not pointless. Kukis are deliberately provoking a clash. That way it increases deployment drawing away troops from the LAC & the Kukis get to accuse the GoI of favouring Hindoo Meiteis over Christian Kukis. China's gaming this well.
They are emboldened by their brethren success in Myanmar. Moreover, centre uses chin groups to flush out other underground militants from the Myanmar border . I think the manipur crisis is a result of this strategy adopted by the centre. They must have thought they could control them .

First time I've heard of GoI using Chin militants to flush out out militant groups based in Myanmar

One Kuki militant was killed in Jiri, and has been identified as Thangboi (20) s/o Ngounu of Mongbung Kuki village.
Another cadre of the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) identified as Haoneithang Vaiphei alias Brucelee of Kangvai Vll, sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to Silchar Medical College.
Well, his fight days are over and it is time to head to Tihar jail for the rest of his life.

During the CRPF ambush ? Or different incident ?

I think the gameplan of the centre is now clear after a year of ethnic cleansing & no assertive action by the centre on the ground or any attempt to get the warring groups for talks across the table sponsored by the centre - an impossibility given the high levels of mutual suspicions , which many including myself thought was postponed due to the elections though that could well be a factor too.

The centre's extremely averse to a full blown ethnic conflict / liberation movement breaking out anywhere in the NE especially in Manipur which as of today is the biggest concern .

The reason for it is simple . To prevent China from gaining an advantage as , if a full blown conflict occurs , GoI will be forced to thin deployments on the LAC , redeploying them in Manipur. A couple of other factors also need to be taken into consideration not all of which is within the control of the government.

There's the situation in Myanmar which is the creation of the Tatmadaw & which has now spun out of their control manifesting itself into chaos & anarchy in Manipur . In to this we have the Chinese fishing in troubled waters arming both - the Tatmadaw & the various insurgencies the former is up against thus poised to emerge as the final arbiter when the situation is conducive.

This is not so much the GoI's fault though we'd have to face the fallout. Right now we're being reactive without committing ourselves in favour of either party in the conflict . I've a feeling this approach will result in us falling between both stools. Let me explain why .

The next problem is purely of our creation namely - the cutting down in recruitment within the ranks of the IA & the creation in haste of the Agniveer program. IMHO this has come at the worst time possible. OTOH we've an unresolved problem in Kashmir with Paxtan & OTOH we've now a front opened up against China with issues in the NE & Kashmir still not resolved to everyone's satisfaction .

Frankly after all these years we ought to understand we'd never quite accomodate all these groups & resolve the issue to everyone's satisfaction though having said that I'd also add that no government has done as much as this one has to end insurgencies there & more importantly build up infrastructure to encourage industry & thereby employment.

Arguably this wasn't accomplished overnight & by one administration . It is the collective constructive policies of different administrations across the decades which has led us to achieving a semblance of peace out there with the current administration being the most pro active in seeking resolution of conflicts & building infrastructure.

The Kuki / Chin groups are being encouraged by the Chinese to foment unrest in Manipur with the eventual aim of creating their own state out there given the current instability across the border in Myanmar. The initial aim may well be to seek sanctuary out here but through bitter experience we must realise that once these groups become ensconced here there's no going back . This in turn disturbs the delicate ethnic balance in a diverse place like Manipur resulting in what it did.

The GoI especially one such as the BJP which lays much stock in India being a civilizational state with Sanatan Dharma being the bedrock the foundation as well as comprising most of the external edifice must realise that every society consists of in groups & out groups which must be identified with policies framed & implemented accordingly.

This has been the one consistent failing of the current dispensation which becomes glaringly obvious in Manipur seeking as it does to placate both groups with CAPFs deployed not so much to maintain peace but to maintain the balance of power in Manipur between both groups by watching over the Meitei dominated local police & state para military forces.

Any pussy footing around this issue or postponing the resolution for another day is merely kicking the can down the road & trying to compensate for major policy blunders like the Agniveer program including non recruitment of all those vacancies created on account of retirement of nearly 2 lakh jawans over the past 3-4 years since COVID which the Agniveer program as it exists today isn't designed to compensate for.

Course correction is a must & for that acknowledgement & appreciation of the problem at hand in a holistic manner is a pre requisite. Otherwise we're merely papering over the cracks hoping for the best while being inert on the ground. This is exactly what falling between two stools entails & given the current policies of the GoI I'm afraid this is where we're headed. The emerging situation in Jammu is another manifestation of the very same self inflicted wound.

Yes, its a Burmese militia flag, they are likely training them against the Burmese military junta and could potentially be training the militants fighting in Manipur.
I'd welcome these Christian fundamentalists training the Kukis which I'm sure they're undertaking given the close synergies between the various insurgents in Myanmar.

Gives us all the more reason to infiltrate Myanmar & launch our campaigns there . Also would help if they join forces to attack our units in Manipur. We could capture or execute them & pay Washington back in the same coin as they're paying us in the Panun affair.

Myanmar Junta is in trouble. It's going to spill over. This govt is not serious.
