Second boom is the one which destroyed the complete Complex .06 onwards. It was Noor Khan in heart of Rawalpindi aka GHQ which sent shockwaves into Islamabad (barely 10Kms) and Washington. First strike must have been to take out HVA like C-130 probably ready to transport some high grade stuff probably /Scalp.
Second sonic boom could have been another (most likely)/Rampage just hear the sound MFs Porkis. This one took out their Trailer based C2 centre

• IAF aircraft were primarily in A2G mode and not A2A

The IAF Rafale probably did not bring BVRs like Meteor to the fight which is why the possible wreckage in Bhatinda, Punjab had a MICA WVRAAM on a pylon. There were no reports of any Meteor wreckages found in Pakistan.

• Pakis changed ROE on the fly to launch PL 15E and engage Indian aircraft within Indian airspace

The heavily restricted ROEs by babus prevented IAF from targeting any approaching Paki aircraft and thus when the IAF saw multiple launches of PL 15Es and HQ 9s heading towards them, they had to scuttle some missions.

That said, presence of intake-covers (or ‘caps’) on the crash sites of several of ’ boosters, as well as original, light grey colour of booster’s bodies, are indicative of some of missiles not being released, but jettisoned. I.e. released without activation, probably by Su-30MKIs the crews of which were surprised by Pakistani PL-15s, and forced into evasive manoeuvring. (Sure, intake-covers/caps are released at the same time the booster stage is released; but, they are extremely unlikely to come down to the ground at exactly the same spot).

This may not be the right thread to say it, but I believe all officers above the rank of Joint secretary or Additional Secretary should be political appointees with relevant qualifications, and their terms should be co-terminus with the ruling govt. This would put an end to the current system of unaccountability and break the silent pact among bureaucrats to shield one another.

I don't think the system can be blamed on this one. It is the job of Armed Forces, IAF in this case to prepare for contingencies and always appreciate the enemy capabilities when wargaming.

What happens next time, if during the initial skirmish when IAF is more prepared for the air-to-air engagement and has 100 IAF jets overhead but PAF this time also launches CM400 or other ASM missiles at our airfields in J&K, Punjab & Rajasthan during that phase itself. All our SAMs like S400 won't be able to effectively counter them or there will be huge friendly fire risk. And if IAF is not able to strike their airfields during that phase then they can't say then that they were prepared for air-to-air based on last exchange.

MEA is famous for being fuck ups of the highest order. They probably cautioned against taking preemptive action against Pakis using Meteor and BVR and are majorly responsible for the highly restrictive ROEs in the name of a 'US trade deal'.

Most of India's peacenik stances are courtesy of the MEA worrying about 'log kya kahenge'.
Post op analysis clearly shows that the IAF was restrained until a Haft missile flew and was intercepted over Sirsa, Haryana. After that some major asses were ripped apart and IAF got the free hand to do whatever it wanted.

The vast majority of diplomats are whisky swilling socialites belonging to a glorified HR department. They don't like to co-operate with intelligence or the military and try their own failed version of 'Track 2 diplomacy'.

The ideological outlook for 90%+ is pro West and they WILL sabotage India in some way if it means that their children get settled abroad.

These fuck ups managed to invite a rabid anti India, anti Hindu Khalistani to a New York event.
