If Tejas was just a point-defence fighter, it could have been used in the aerial battle that ensued the next day of Op. Sindoor, right? In fact, Tejas and Su-MKI are the only 2 aircrafts which can fire the Astra-1, which is the 2nd longest range A-A missile currently in our inventory. Why I say 2nd longest is, there was a tweet that the Rafales were still using Mica instead of Meteor. So, if it was not used, then can we not doubt that IAF has still some insecurity in deploying Tejas for real combat? Or are we too concerned about the likely felling of a Tejas as we are planning to export it? But if it was used and if it did a commendable job, then like all other indigenous products, this would have a big morale booster for likely exports.
