Yes but please do tell me where's it written we make our lives difficult by such interviews ? We can't prevent the western media from writing whatever they do .We also have an open house policy where we host such media in spite of their known antagonism to this regime on ideological grounds if not India as a country.let's get one thing clear in our heads, the world is not going to give us easy victories, there are big monies involved. India's journey as 4th largest economy is going to be like this. this happened to china too , later chini developed a system to manage these things.
no matter what happens, International media will be hostile to India, better get used to it.
these "got cha" question traps will keep happening, there are many groups within India who give inputs to international media to set these up.
GoI has to create a policy framework with monetary support, to manage international media.
To add to the problems the PM doesn't believe in the media . Well , after 11 yrs in the saddle as PM & 13 years in Gujarat he can afford to be aloof but that's not how the real world functions which is to say his successor whoever he is will face a tough time for the knives will be out for him at the very start & all these worthies who've not managed to create a dent in Leaderji's aura will be back with a vengeance when his successor takes up the job.
If Modi isn't thinking along those lines be better be . He's not getting any younger & it's probably this thought process of his which is impeding the creation of our own world wide service like AJ & BBC.
Practically every nation worth their salt has an international media presence , network & coverage from RoK & Japan in the east to Spain in the west & Russia , Germany , France in between what to speak of Turkey & measly Qatar which has been punching above its weight for 2 decades and counting now. Even the Saudis were forced to respond with Al Arabiya.
For at the end of the day you can expel journalists ban publications etc but there's no better way of getting back than in kind which is by having our own international news service. It's been 11 years & counting & we've had statements to this effect by senior government functionaries like Sanjiv Sanyal & Dr Jaishankar but precious little movement on the ground. What do we blame this apathy on ?
