Ngl our folks need to calm down. And need to think before taking any extraordinary news coming from Pakistan with a cup of salt. Pakistan will get J35s but I don't think how China will deliver them first before setting up production lines for itself. And they used to claim same stuff for those subs. People here were panicking reading similar paxtani phamplet that Pakistan Navy will now have edge over IN in few years. Paxtanis were saying China will deliver all the subs in just one year. What happened to that?

Agree with everything before this but on F35s I think FMS doesn't guarantee fast delivery. Because there are already tons of orders for F35s. And there are still gonna be many complicated processes involved even via this route. At best 1-2 years earlier than usual route. We aren't getting any jet before 2030. Look at the Apache & F404 drama. US can always pull that bs with F-35 as well citing supply chain issues.

There are some details that don't make sense. The PL-17 is much bigger than the weapons bay of the J-35/FC-31 AFAIK so I don't think all the details there are 100% accurate. In any case, regardless of what members here think and public opinion shapes up and regardless of when the PAF inducts the J-35, DRDO, HAL, IAF and GoI need to take up AMCA's case with war footing. If they can replicate what they did with Zorawar's development, that would be the best. There is no room for procrastination there.

Normally, I'd agree but Janes AFAIK is a cut above the rest so there must be at least something credible in there. Regardless, the point is, it doesn't matter if the J-35 will come tomorrow morning or in a decade - at no point should India procrastinate with AMCA. If the babudom show their regular babugiri, if the netadom show their regular netagiri and if the horny mfs at DRDO show their hornygiri, the nation will pay a heavy price.

Apache situation is a cautionary tale. With F404, I think HAL and Defence ministry needs to be blamed for not ordering in time and letting the IN20 engine production line go offline. If they knew that eventually LCA would be inducted in IAF in numbers, they should have stockpiled 50 engines (3-4 years of LCA production).

With F35, maybe US can give a preferential delivery of at-least first 10-15 aircrafts by 2028-2029, like they helped us with MQ9B lease during Chinese standoff. With FMS, there won't be any tender or opposition politics about corruption.

If no F35, I don't think SU57 is an option. The design itself is not good compared to J20 & J35 let alone F35. That's why Russia has not used it extensively in the Ukraine war theater. Also to get it inducted into IAF would be a project in itself like SU30MKI.

Might need to look at asymmetrical means to counter stealth till AMCA like VHF radars, passive EW & radars, etc. If a S band detects 2m^2 at 300km then it should be able to detect J35 at 140km (0.1m^2), it is not like they will be flying over our airbases. They might cross the IB to launch weapons but won't come deep inside as RCS from other aspects are higher and they will risk detection by IAF & IA network of radars. I think QRSAM batteries and maybe even imported Iron Dome can be used to protect air bases and intercept whatever weapons J35 fired.
