There are three possible responses Modi & Co. can pursue in the event of a terrorist attack:

1. They can bomb some irrelevant or symbolic structures and claim victory-> the kind of hollow theatrics that only fool the gullible jaahils, not a politically aware Indian public.

2. They can target terrorist training camps-> a tactic that might offer short-term optics, but is strategically futile. These camps are easily reconstituted, fueled by an endless supply of jihadis, and it merely becomes a waiting game until the next attack.

3. They can strike at core Pakistani military assets->the actual puppeteers behind cross-border terrorism. This approach directly raises the cost for Rawalpindi, forcing the Pakistani military to think twice before enabling further attacks. Only this third option creates real deterrence.

Modi & Co. made a fundamental miscalculation- they THOUGHT they could achieve the fruits of Response-3 with Response-2 which is obviously false.

There is a YouTube channel (Grim Reaper), which simulates such battles in DCS.

TLDR is you can overwhelm any static AD (S400/Patriot) or CBGs with enough missiles and assymetric tricks.

If I were Pakistan I would have been war-gaming sinking Vikrant since its keel-laying started.

I believe it was a simple calibration problem , I don't remember the article now but it had a ver reasonable explanation for where the bombs landed and why they did.

Then answer us, why did Pakis take 53 days to show the site to foreign journalists? If nothing was hit, why didn't they show it the next day? What would have been a bigger proof and humiliation for us other than that? Huh? Answer us.

A proper bvr engagement must have taken place while the bombing took place.

It took Pakis 53 days to get all terrorists away from there and remove terrorist material from site even when the the Paki army will control what the media will see? 53 days?? And what will be the bigger evidence other than Paki army took 53 days to let anyone visit the site? Some said it was miss, other said there were holes at top of the building. If it was a miss, how much time would it take Paki army to get the media there? And wouldn't that be the biggest humiliation for us that all 4 of our bombs missed?

I mean how can even an Indian think that, even after Operation Sindoor, where IAF showed exemplary competence and precision, that all 4 bombs at Balakot missed is beyond me. And that is when the IAF has many times said that it hit the site. I really sometimes doubt people like you whether you are even Indian. I think it would be unfair to compare PM Vajpayee's actions with Manmohan's actions. Manmohan was taking orders from US deep-state actors such as McCain. PM Vajpayee defied entire US establishment. Are you familiar with General Vij's tank strike corpse secretly heading towards Pakistan? I think it was a brinkmanship devised by Vajpayee Administration. In this brinkmanship, General Vij played the role of a bad cop and civilian leadership in New Delhi played the role of a good cop.

If my memory is correct, this event happened after 911 attack on USA. This means Pakistan had become indispensable for USA in the latter's war against Afghanistan. As we know, Pakistan becomes emboldened and carries out terrorist attacks against India when it feels like it is in USA's good graces. So, Pakistan carried out a terrorist attack against Indian parliament. After India placed the blame on Pakistan, the civilian (puppet) government of Pakistan implied that this was the work of rogue actors within the Pakistan's military. Therefore, India should not be "harsh" and be more understanding -- according to Pakistan.

When USA/Pakistan discovered that a column of Indian tanks was secretly moving towards the border, Indian government feigned ignorance. Only after this, Pakistan became more reasonable. Vajpayee told Bush that just because Pakistan was helping USA does not entitle Pakistan to carry out terrorist attacks against India with impunity. So an agreement was fostered where Pakistan would co-operate with India on anti-terror investigation.

Nevertheless, I would agree that a full blown war with Pakistan should have happened. Even Vajpayee, in his later years, regretted not attacking Pakistan.

Misreading the situation. Their vital assets were damaged badly or destroyed and they begged for the ceasefire

OP Sindoor was however not . The IAF learnt as air forces do from the past.

Photography evidence of that era show a gapping hole in the building where missile entered, hence Balakote attack was successful.
