Not really, it was intercepted over Sirsa, North West Haryana, it is closer to border than Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar.

Yup the location of the airbase is such that the missile was bound to fall under its defence zone.

Looking at our reaction i have no doubts where the missile would end up if not for the intercept. Not at Delhi but probably close.

They wanted to display intent and ended up making a mockery of their missile stock.

The world already knows what a superpower India is in terms of missiles.

It always amazes me people dont realize, that a missile and space booster rocket is the SAME DAMN THING. Missile is just a more compact portable version of it. - they are BOTH ballistic rockets, both with the SAME guidance system.
And btw, just PUTTING a rocket in mars orbit at this distance requires guidance precision similar to lobbing a missile from India and hitting the oval office toilet.

So those who think that one of the only 4 nations on planet to put an orbiter around mars sucks at making the same rocket go 1/100th the distance accurately are either ignorant of this fact or straight dehatis.

Hypothetically I could see this kind of 'reportage': "Both countries have made false claims. India claims it intercepted a missile called Fateh-2, but that missile is actually Fateh-6. Meanwhile Pakistan claimed India fired missiles at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, an accusation that seems unfounded" Or a sampling like that. Don't put it past them! The Washington Post coverage( which I regrettably checked out) is blood boiling material, giving Pakistan the benefit of the doubt, and belittling Indian reports.

I believe these are air-launched missiles fired from fighter jets. A ballistic missile could never achieve this level of accuracy.
