But, if the Dog is on the Pakistani side and giving away the location(s) of our ambush sites or patrolling, what do you do?
- Well, the story goes that an Assam Regiment battalion landed on the LOC and faced this challenge.
- There was this big dog on the other side who was really causing issues.
- What to do?
- Then a Naga jawan from the regiment had an idea - all he asked for was a few 100 grams of raw meat for next few days.
- Meat was provided to him, and he was left to his own devises to silence this 4-legged sentry on the other side of the LOC fence.
- After a few days, one fine morning, the same jawan was seen with the dead body of the very same dog!
- What he had done was to put the raw meat on the fence to invite the dog to eat it and gain his trust.
- This happened for a few days and then one fine day, when the dog lowerd his guard and came very close, the Jawan slit its throat with his dao!
---
But the story does not end here.
Most of you would know that people in NE do eat dogs.
Well, the Dog was butchered during day-time in the full view of the Pakistanis, and cooked and eaten.
Henceforth, the Pakistanis did not attempt to keep any dogs at that particular post.
