while hindsight is 20/20, i'd say there was one aspect our boys could have done better - bomb the 11 PAF bases thoroughly on 9 may and inflict total infra loss there, including any jets. that would have set PAF back by decades, destroyed pak morale, and instead of sending a message, IAF could have just shown that they walk the walk.
why that should have been done on the 9th itself? well, the pakistani doctrine seems to be based around limiting the timeline of warfare. they know they can't fight a sustained battle of attrition, hence their best bet is to have a quick war, inflict some notable damage on us, and then get their daddy (US or China) to push for a ceasefire. meanwhile, they use the damage done to remain relevant. i guess they learned this in 1965. that's what played out in 2019, and this time around too.
well, IAF could have inflicted such a major loss on them in the limited timeline that they would be left scrambling to find a new doctrine. but that is just the opinion of a greedy guy who has seen his country's armed forces just put a nuisance back in his place, and wants more!! i am perfectly happy with what they have already achieved
