I respect the sentiment of Gen. GD Bakshi, but respectfully vishwaguru is no IG. I am not a fan of IG's policies and absolutely detest the Congress party. But IG for all her faults truly had balls of steel to stand up to the West and carve out BD. Mind you this was India of 1971 and not today. Our economy/military and general standing in the world was nowhere near where we are now. Also, not sure if today's generals are of Maneckshaw's caliber who put the PM and the political establishment in its place. Maybe we'll find out if we are lucky.

Agree. I was one of them.

Let's wait a month before writing our choicest abuses.

But I want to add to this. In case of a blitzkrieg by a coordinated China and Pakistan effort, we might become paralyzed and caught off guard because of our tendencies to plan things out meticulously. It works wrt to Pakistan.

But it won't work wrt to China and Pakistan's two front attack especially if they have planned it out. At that time, the worst thing we can have is a paralyzed top decision making body and a uncoordinated fight back.

So there is no issue in meticulous planning and taking our sweet time wrt to Pakistan. But the same shouldn't happen wrt to China. The decisions need to come fast and if the military is being mobilized, then it needs to happen faster than Chinese does with clear leadership from the top.

CCP factor is always present but Maun Mohan did not have the Chinese "breathing down" on our necks like we do today.

Anyhow Pakistanis consider "Both India & Pakistan need to de-escalate & work out things" kind of statement generally positive for their stand.

On the question of China, what do we do if CCP attempts multiple ingress all along the border while we are engaging the Pakistanis? Do we have the numbers/tech edge to battle both at same l? Answer is obvious

Political/military leadership might still be weighing these questions.

You mean the same IG that shat and pissed on the hard earned victory by the military?

We all know what happened after we won the war.
1. She gave the land back which we won on western front
2. She gave 93000 POW back without getting any of ours in return. They were also treated like mehman by IG
3. IG also gave the Paki POW money equivalent to their salaries. yeah, she paid Paki soldiers for being our POW
4. During Eid, IG flew families of POW's on tax payers expense so that the POW families can celebrate Eid together, how lovely.
5. Let's not forget the Shimla agreement where she practically bent down as if we lost the war to Pakis.

It's hilarious how IG lost the war the military had won is even revered.

Who the F would give land and POW back without getting any of our land back in J&K and our POW's??

Well, that's IG, the supposed one with balls..

fire few BrahmosBrahmosBrahmos deep into pak , army/navy on standby to prevent pak escalation. most likely they will say we hit nothing . they will fire 1 or 2 missiles , we will say nothing hit . everyone satisfied.

That's the reason I say we hold the pakis rather than go after their territories. In our position, we can't assume China won't take advantage of our military tied up with the pakis and if it's overcommitted elsewhere. Chinis are looking to exploit any chink in the armour.

It's much better to bait pakis to attack us in J&K while we do it through air strikes and draw most of Paki military from western border, tie it up and pin it down.

The real death blow will be given by BLA and Taliban. All they need to do is roll into Peshawar or some Pak city taliban or ISIS style hoist their flag and withdraw. Or they can capture some paki real estate and dig in.

Money, material and weapons will be routed through Iran who has sufficient expertise in the field.

After that, all of Pakistan's focus will be on their internal insurgencies and reclaiming the lost land from Taliban and BLA. If Pakistan's focus shifts from obsession with Kashmir to recover from the psychological humiliation dealt by Taliban and BLA, terror attacks in Kashmir will cease to happen.
 
Those who criticised were right in their scepticism. Indian had never preempted Pakistan before that. The pressure was required to move that inertia.
What followed the strikes showed that Modi had no liver to follow that up. Inversely, Post strikes, we did not criticise him either. We saw it as at least the gears are engaged for future expeditions.

This time, things are different we can see the Balakot Strikes gave us momentum and also a reality check. We should now be better prepared and physiologically more switched on.

However, there are a few developments post the Caste census news, which have their implications on this standoff.
