i am honestly more interested to know if Ladakh is safe or not. I want to visit Ladakh the next time i visit India but i am not 100% sure its insulated from kashmiri jihadism or not.

Oh it is ... Even when they were part of J&K state they did their best to keep kashmiris out. People are super friendly as well .. If you are going into the mountains just be patient with them, environment is harsh and there are limits to what they can do for your comfort.

Also regarding the "recovered f16". I think it is more of a case of securing the crashed aircraft to prevent some sensitive parts from making it to china "accidentally".

You can directly visit Leh by flight..Leh district is Buddhist majority and Kargil is Shia muslim majority..
My cousin holidayed in Leh last week..
Flight from Delhi.. Most tourist spots are in Leh district..
