Why Podcasts ? It's been observed over the span of a decade that podcasts have gained increasing popularity for they provide an in depth PoV on the subject matter not constrained by the time factor which similar programs broadcast over MSM are bound by .

Podcasts have also captured the imagination of their audiences because of the sheer variety of topics they cover including niche areas which MSM glosses over for reasons varying from its obvious lack of interest among the mainstream which doesn't lend itself to easy commercial exploitation to perhaps the controversial nature of the topic at hand .

We also live in an age which is not only fast paced but increasingly commercialised & parochial where perusing of a particular type of content is seen as endorsing the politics behind it . It's a theory I don't subscribe to as not everyone who subscribes to your views is your follower.

Having got that out of the way , the aim here is to present a cross section of views on the above-mentioned topics & more to get a holistic grasp on the issues at hand .

We kick off the inauguration , of what I'm sure will be the beginning of an abiding tradition here , with Bihar & its politics between 1990-2005 to trace the reason Bihar is in the state it is in with this episode of Vaad which is an interview of Mrityunjay Sharma by the host Arihant Pawariya .

Here's the brief introduction of the guest as per the blurb of Vaad for this particular episode.

Born and raised in undivided Bihar, Mrityunjay Sharma is a first-generation entrepreneur and social activist. An engineering graduate from BIT Mesra, Ranchi and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, Mrityunjay worked in various senior HR roles at Asian Paints before moving to the hinterlands of Chhattisgarh, where he worked with the then chief minister Dr Raman Singh on developmental issues. He subsequently moved to his home state of Jharkhand to work at the grassroots.

Sharma is the co-founder of Ranchi-based start-up biofie.com. He also runs a social initiative called Kartavyapath to teach mathematics to underprivileged children and is a visiting faculty at several institutes, including the IIMs.

His book ‘Broken Promises’ tells the story of Bihar's plunge into an abyss of crime, corruption and economic ruin during the tumultuous decade of the 1990s, often referred to as the ‘Jungle Raj’ years. Order your copy here: https://www.amazon.in/Broken-Promises?tag=dfb24-21...
