More like bewelled contours tbh. Isn't this a variation of a tear drop hull or are ze Germans engaging in semantics once again ?

The sub will have both AIP for prolonged low speeds underwater ops without the need to snorkel and Li ion batteries for short high speed sprints.





VLS aren't shown here. Netherlands and Germany haven't asked for it but the option is open for prospective customer.

i think russia offered its amur class with brahmos vls too but i guess navy wants a top-notch aip rather than a land attack role from a submarine (which i think would be ngmv and other surface warships)

Better ordered 6 more Kalveri Calss in addition to existing 9 and focus on Indeginious designs, Germans are not trustable and Spanish ones are too risky with many unproven and unpolished component's.

Back to January, DRDO signed w/ Naval Group to integrate indigenous AIP into 6 Kalvari subs?

Germany AIP is using fuel cell based tech, just like DRDO, right? Appreciate anyone shed some light about difference, if any.

I think yes cause the aip is untested the boat is still very very new even the s80 is older
Plus we are looking for good aip tech primarly too

Amur is only a rebranded Kilo.
As Kilo was a nice sub for its time, it is now outdated, as its cousin Amur.
I add that India wants to less rely on russian weapons. Once they have taste west products (more reliable, more potent, more expensive also) they found russian ones less desirable.

From wat I understand, type 212 is for German and closest allies and 214 is the export version(turkey, south Korea etc), 216 is enlarged 3k ton boat which never sold and 218 is a customised version or 212/214 for Singapore. Cheers, hope type 212's newer version that is 212 c/d or the nowerigen is wat is offered to India
