Small Arms and Weapons

both Lobaev and Orsis started as sporterised rifle manufacturers, Lobaev started around 2000s while Orsis around 2010s, both are staffed by barely 300-400 people in total, and yet they're now manufacturing and supplying military grade sniper rifles to Russian Army and participating in various eastern euro country's tenders

Orsis T-5000 is among well known rifle out of this

our local guys like SSS Defense, Kalyani (though his sniper is straightaway screwdrivergiri of DAN-338) should take notes here

On some Telegram channel, I saw a Hi-Point C9 (9 mm) in use with a Special Group (SG) operator. For comparison, if we use the analogy of cars with regard to 9mm pistols in service with security forces in India :
  • Browning Hi-Power = Maruti 800
  • Beretta 92FS = Honda City
  • Glock 17 = Kia Seltos
  • Beretta PX4 = Toyota Fortuner
  • Sig Sauer P226 = Hyundai Verna
  • IWI Masada = Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
The Hi-Power C9 is the Tata Nano of the lot. Has the SG seen a reduction in their budget or are the decision makers in charge of procurement simply clueless about what is relevant and blindly order off a catalog by some seedy arms dealers.
It seems that the mission of the Hi-Point company is to provide American-made handguns and carbines at a price anyone can afford. The 2nd Amendment is for everybody but if walking into a gun shop, not everyone can afford a Staccato or even a Glock.
The slide is a factor of the gun’s low price point. The reason being that the Hi-Point pistols use a direct blowback system instead of the more machine-intensive Browning action. As a straight blowback gun, you have to keep the breech closed until pressure levels have dropped to a safe level. With a straight blowback handgun in 9mm, you either need a super stiff recoil spring or a heavy slide.

Hi-Point C9 is a ghetto pistol but one positive about it is, it can take overpressured +p category ammo straight out of box, baki toh it could be some low tier purchase just for sake of trying it out or budgetary constraints so getting whatever they can

no matter how much they try they'll never match the SIG SG550 line in terms of westernised AK, the design is born perfect - too bad it remained limited to some SF rifle among most users outside the switzerland
It remained to sf due to its cost btw india do have big numbers of those
Totally unnecessary stuffs to rip people of their savings
Off course to me thats what Gucci stuff represents when you can buy decent gun in 800$ but you go for 5000$ one anyways at same time your soldiers lack ear-piece for communication, or thermal or night vision or basic ppe in 2025

well i heartily, dearly, desperately, direly WISH that ARDE babudumbs and enginiggers bring a new version of their 5.56x45mm Carbine, Ugram, 6.8x43mm rifle and any other firearm in that series, THAT HAS FEATURES FROM SIG 56X SERIES

i mean just look at brand new SIG 56x series of firearms here,

- free floating barrel now, with integrated M-LOK railed on 3-6-9 and top picatiny handguards
- trigger group is simplified so no more 3-round burst there, safe-semi-auto fire selector is now more standard
- takes standard SG550 magazines, but with a mag-well adapter can also take STANAG compatible magazines - though this thing was already known since years that even with some plastic bits added to standard SG550 series rifle, and cutting a notch on STANAG magazine one can easily use STANAG magazine there, as SG550 magazine is based on STANAG one only just made into nose-in-rock-back pattern
just look at this video

so yean now SIG guys themselves are offering a direct adapter for those mags
also notice instead of AK style paddle magazine release it's buttons now
- ambidextrous controls for fire selector, magazine release and bolt hold open-release
- trigger guard is enlarged for perhaps gloved fingers
- standard SIG Sauer's AR pistol grip there
- picatiny rail for buttstock, so any picatiny rail compatible buttstock can be mounted there

well if NSG guys wants something to replace their SG551, SG553 or so, SIG guys have brought a modern variant in SG56x line

Sometimes it feels like ARDE guys lives in North Sentinel Island and their last contact with modern civilization is around 1960-1970s. So every iteration of their new gun is same old handgaurd, pistol grip which is comical, fire selector in a weird style, charging handle is small foldable thing, fixed sights on the barrel itself when modern guns moved to foldable sights and leaving the barrel as isolated as possible.

Felt like these guys don't want to open internet to see how modern companies are building rifles. They just build in their caves and call it a day.
