Small Arms and Weapons

well i heartily, dearly, desperately, direly WISH that ARDE babudumbs and enginiggers bring a new version of their 5.56x45mm Carbine, Ugram, 6.8x43mm rifle and any other firearm in that series, THAT HAS FEATURES FROM SIG 56X SERIES

i mean just look at brand new SIG 56x series of firearms here,

- free floating barrel now, with integrated M-LOK railed on 3-6-9 and top picatiny handguards
- trigger group is simplified so no more 3-round burst there, safe-semi-auto fire selector is now more standard
- takes standard SG550 magazines, but with a mag-well adapter can also take STANAG compatible magazines - though this thing was already known since years that even with some plastic bits added to standard SG550 series rifle, and cutting a notch on STANAG magazine one can easily use STANAG magazine there, as SG550 magazine is based on STANAG one only just made into nose-in-rock-back pattern
just look at this video

so yean now SIG guys themselves are offering a direct adapter for those mags
also notice instead of AK style paddle magazine release it's buttons now
- ambidextrous controls for fire selector, magazine release and bolt hold open-release
- trigger guard is enlarged for perhaps gloved fingers
- standard SIG Sauer's AR pistol grip there
- picatiny rail for buttstock, so any picatiny rail compatible buttstock can be mounted there

well if NSG guys wants something to replace their SG551, SG553 or so, SIG guys have brought a modern variant in SG56x line

Our babus from ARDE should just buy this and copy it at this point including furniture and all ambi features
ARDE was working on mlok with ugram t but with repeat order of sig 716 i don't think they are working on that anymore i just don't have any hope from them but

Drdo ugrum in 5.56 if it came with even modern furniture and ambi charging handle and magzine release and bolt catch and fire selected and ifvit can take stanag magzine it would have been more than decent from them but they would still go with 1980s design
Sig 56xx looks sick

Sometimes it feels like ARDE guys lives in North Sentinel Island and their last contact with modern civilization is around 1960-1970s. So every iteration of their new gun is same old handgaurd, pistol grip which is comical, fire selector in a weird style, charging handle is small foldable thing, fixed sights on the barrel itself when modern guns moved to foldable sights and leaving the barrel as isolated as possible.

Felt like these guys don't want to open internet to see how modern companies are building rifles. They just build in their caves and call it a day.
it's not that archic bhai, i remember when MCIWS or this multi-calibre rifle tender was going on during times of Manohar Parrikar ji as our Raksha Mantri, someone made a comment on good ol' DFI's MCIWS thread that he / someone he knew worked with certain DPSU where he voluntarily designed some new rifle having some of the best features possible, and when he presented it to his superiors he even received praise for it, but things just didn't move at all, that design work and all just remained stagnated for years and eventually he left the place for some better foreign MNC 🤷‍♂️

that made me think that perhaps they do have talented folks there but unless things are moved by some superiors nothing's gonna see the light of day

and on teligram too, i met someone whose jeejaa (brother-in-law) worked for Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi for three-some years, he was part of T-72 assembly line but during his tenure there despite having pending orders NOT A SINGLE T-72 GOT ASSEMBLED over all corruptions from superiors and pretty frequent STRIKES by muh labourer unions 😒 🤷‍♂️ he eventually got better job offers from British Aerospace, the BAe and left

reminder they must've attempted this during INSAS time as that OFB Rifle Room in Ishapore Factory does have some of then best 5.56mm rifle samples there, including a Galil, a SIG 550/551, FN CAL (INSAS had huuuuge influence of FN CAL/FN FNC on its features, that three-round burst mechanism is directly taken from here) and so...

so yeah they surely can bring some SIG 56x to get some first-hand experience of those features and fork them on newer prototype under that carbine-ugram and all

found some datasheet and a flyer on SIG 56x series, it seems there're even 7.62x39mm and .300 BLK versions available, of course now fed from STANAG pattern magazines instead of typical kalashnikov pattern one for SG-563R, previous SIG 553R was fed from kalashnikov magazines

it's in swiss german though, maybe google lens will help with translation, or ask @VictorDelta4 bhai here for any info
