Small Arms and Weapons

Excalibur Mk1 and Mk1C, are serving in various paramilitary and NE side army units since years now, we don't hear about much issues on it either
perhaps @tomthounaojam87 sir can explain more about those rifles as he's experienced those oness as well as o g INSAS
so as a bare basic thing, Excaliburs are fine...it's this 1B series of INSAS the mainstay of our armed forces that needs some help...

baaki toh, look at very recently manufactured version of INSAS, in Excalibur line

newer 30 rounder magazine, instead of semi-auto and 3-round burst mode like there on 1B INSAS, it has semi-auto and full-auto modes like most assault rifles, and top cover has a small section of picatiny rail there
^sure this one may require more upgrades but as a basic design it's worth having over 1B INSASes, of course if armed forces wish for it 🤷‍♂️

Recent times, seeing somewhat a better finish from AWEIL. Either AWEIL is improved or due to shit tier requirement from Army, they go with cheapest parts possible.

Pros and cons of use of Gpmg as SAW
And we somehow use it for SF ,
They have to carry it around over their shoulder.
By the time they are able to set that up in an ambush it would be Over .

Also they aren't exploiting it's power , the engagement distance is close as they can't open up without pid and they are not armored, so a waste of the range and penetrative power of 7.62

I think negev would be upgrade for them and infantry in all aspects

this is how Soviets depicted M16 in some of their movies

^basically, some Sturmgewehr-44 from WW2 era modified to give looks of early prototype of AR-15

it's also a thing that OFB//AWEIL is outsourcing most of "furniture" parts to various polymer manufacturers, you know that 'Nilkamal' furniture maker? i have seen one particular pic with it's markings on magazine of INSAS 🤷‍♂️
go to indiamart and search 'rifle magazine' something, you'll find such aftermarket OEM-ish manufacturers proudly showcasing entire catalogues of furnitures for INSAS, JVPC, SLR and all 🤷‍♂️ including magazines too
took me a while but finally found that pic, it's from 2016 era, a certain padwan of mine
who's now serving in the Indian Air Force noticed it at some exhibition, took the pic and later forwarded it to me on facebook

one can clearly see 'Nilkamal' written there with that logo

also, searching on indiamart, found one such OEM guy in an instant

Weight of PKs are one of their advantages they are too light for a GPMG.
About the other things i don’t think Pks are that much difficult to deploy. Paras could have easily replaced them with Negevs back in early 2000s they must have found Pks helpful thats why they didn’t done it. In Urban areas much shorter SAWs are required though.

yeah i remember that, even some news articles picked that up and mentioned it, but i was a bit skeptical about it, then this guy got me actual pic of Nilkamal made INSAS magazine from that exhibition and proved it really existed 🤷‍♂️

but Nilkamal is just one OEM firm, there are plenty of injection moulding polymer-plastic manufacturers that are making furniture and stuff for various OFB/AWEIL factories as evident from indiamart catalogues
