Tracking Indian Judiciary: News, Updates & Discussions (1 Viewer)

When exactly did this happen & is it linked to the FTA we've signed with Australia & UK & the ones being negotiated with US & EU ?

Any idea ? @ezsasa ; @crazywithmath

Some background;

Does not seem to be directly related to FTAs.

Indian companies go to london and singapore, to do settlements between themselves, law companies in those cities facilitate those settlements. gormint first encouraged Indian law firms to raise their standards and take up these kind of cases, so that Indian companies do not have to go to other countries. then gormint said, they want to develop India as a venue for legal settlements on par with london and singapore.

this track is independent of FTA.

Only 23 convictions out of nearly 10,000 cases in Delhi in the last 4 years.

A conviction rate of just 0.25%. Surely a serious Country will look into this industrial scale abuse and amend the law?

Make no mistake, the Western deep state is using Indian Judiciary to break India's family system.

Well USA won't allow Bharat to become the biggest market in the world, one can think what would be the consequences of that happening globally.
No family= no population and whatever population we would have would be financially and mentally weak/broken like their weak/broken family.
Need firm grip on IAS and IPS before you reform the judiciary.

Solicitor General of India has made some very important arguments in twitter case against sahyog portal.

yesterday he focussed on the role algorithms are playing in social media platforms.

today he focussed on twitter as a business not having same rights as Indian citizens, so they can't claim freedom on speech while being a intermidiatory which refuses to act on bad content.

there is a possibility of a landmark judgment can come out of this, main case aside if the judgment can record the role/havoc algorithms are playing, it would be great help to the nation.

interesting bit is that digipub joined the case, in favour of twitter.

TIL "chilling effect" is not just a phrase, there is a doctrine behind it with judgements to support it's contours.

2003 case, social justice gyan by milord aside, allowing plea for pardon is standard procedure for all such cases, so nothing abnormal as such. death sentence is executed only for rarest of rare cases, that too after all remedies have been tried.
Why isn't death sentence common?

And you came back to India?

Before 26/11 there was another outrage in Mumbai among the various terrorist outrages Mumbai suffered , in the year 2006 , made famous by the date 7/11 , for it occurred on 11th July , involving multiple blasts in the First Class compartments of local trains , within a span of a couple of hours in the evening rush hour , claiming as many as 200 lives.

Today after a lot of twists & turns the accused have been acquitted to a man . Incidentally the then chief of the ATS K P Raghuvanshi received a letter of commendation / medal & a promotion IIRC for cracking this case.

Shows you the seriousness with which the police , the judiciary , the government , we as a people & country takes terrorism.

Incidentally this news didn't even make the headlines of local newspapers . Also shows you the apathy with which the press treats such cases that too high profile ones involving hundreds of casualties & fatalities.
