India shouldn't rush for a trade deal, Trump will likely extend the deadline.

Negotiations are stalled because the orange slave is insisting that we ((( open up ))) our agri sector to US imports. :bplease:

He doesn't want to do a deal he only wants to harass India like his deep state owners demand

For some reason the former ultra popular( American) TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey has been talking about India and the recent war. She said some very nice and perceptive things about India, having to do with character. It was expressed lucidly and eloquently. About how countries with character don't respond to every insult and belittling, nor let those barbs and jibes get them down. They make their actions and behaviour show their maturity and wisdom. She was referring to India in general, and the latest war in particular.

Perhaps quite unexpected and out of character though, has been her talks about Indian weaponry. She's impressed with that too!

You can google it, the videos will appear :)

India Links U.S. Agricultural Access to Reciprocity on Indian Manufactured Goods

Trade talks between the U.S. and India are stalled despite President Trump’s optimism about a deal. The U.S. demands greater access to India’s agricultural market, but refuses to grant India the same access for its manufactured goods that China enjoys.

Complicating matters further is Trump’s pro-Pakistan tilt, which has cast a shadow over the talks.

India is focused on protecting critical sectors—agriculture, digital infrastructure, and regulatory autonomy. With 60% of its population tied to agriculture, any concessions could endanger millions of livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the U.S. resists opening its market to India’s labor-intensive exports like textiles, steel, leather, and emerging sectors such as electronics, auto parts, and engineering goods.

These sticking points have frozen progress on broader strategic and commercial cooperation. Without a deal by July 9, incoming 26% tariffs could significantly shrink India’s $41 billion trade surplus with the U.S.—though this is minor for America’s $25 trillion economy. Trump has far larger trade imbalances to address with China, Europe, Canada, and Mexico.

India’s goal of reaching $500 billion in two-way trade with the U.S. by 2030 could remain a dream unless both sides compromise. A limited deal—similar to the U.S.-UK mini trade pact—may be the only realistic path to avoid tariffs.

Let’s hope reason prevails. ………Cheers.

There is no meaning of anything Trump says. He will leak private messages, repeat twenty times his fantasy, keep shouting like a madman, tear down old agreements. If a concession is done, he will be ready with tantrum of another one.

Let him be harassed with delays.

Question: Is India unique among developing countries in restricting( if not in some cases banning) agricultural imports from the US? The majority of farmers in Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Philippines et al would be small time, owning small plots of land. Not big competitive commercial farmers. Do they allow much more freer "access" to their markets. And what, if so, has been the consequence? How is it perceived, taken, in those countries?

If you are referring to "her" YouTube videos, they are AI generated aka fake. I do no think she has any knowledge of geopolitics.

In a warlike emergency, you can live without fancy gadgets but you cannot live without food. You also cannot survive without weapons capable of defending you. Because of aforementioned reasons, any country that wishes to remain strategically independent, will make sure that it is not dependent on any foreign country for food and weapons. If you do not safeguard your farmers from MNC agro companies then your capacity to produce food will collapse. I do not have specific data on specific countries but any country that wishes to remain strategically viable would never outsource their food production capabilities. US is a good example of this policy. US provides its farmers what is called farm subsidy so that its farmers can continue to produce food even if the food is not needed and usually gets disposed.

The reason it happens here is because farmers are a big political votebank, they will not respond kindly to peth pe laath by Govt.

It would be similar in any other such countries than have an actual democracy.

In places like Brazil you would expect some "deals" based on market access since Brazil is a large exporter of minerals and agricultural products, i think they export pork and soybeans and most importantly coffee but not sure.

There is what this guy below says too, it is very true in the case of our country which was victimized by famine, but then dalals would sell their national interests at the drop of a hat, however political survival is one thing they won't play with.

...

Maybe that is what the deep-state wants: farmers turning angry on Modi; I am talking about real farmers -- not Rakesh Takait and his tractor gang.

His party will be deleted from Indian politics if he appeases Trump on Agri imports and he knows it.

It is why either Trump is a retard or he is making these no good faith ((( deal ))) offers at the behest of DS masters to harass Modi.

EUropoids used to obsess over "ze Indische mussen allowen die Agrikulturen importen" in ancient FTA agreement talks with the Congis, and even then they got NO in response, now this doesn't matter much in the current FTA talks we have with them because they realize we will not allow agricultural imports, no chance.

I see. She has written and spoken somewhat sympathetically about India, and she's visited India including the Mumbai slum. I hope some Indian spoofing her, won't change her friendliness toward India. It shouldn't!

This is certainly authentic :) at 50 seconds she gives her( very positive) impression of the country

+100000

We might have 3783938393 problems in our agri system, we might despise those 'annadatas' and the political economy of a certain state but it still does not make any sense to open up our markets for the goras. Food security is serious business. We are surrounded by rabidly hostile nations; there is no telling what the future has in store for us.

Off topic but those Mumbai chawls are getting demolished and redeveloped one after another. The bigger ones will all disappear in a few years' time. I wonder where the goras will visit next to have their poverty porn shoots :bplease:

ISI will sponsor them to come to Karachee and pass it off as Endia.
