Indian editors have largely left wikipedia. So expect more unadulterated garbage.

That's bad because browsing wikipedia is the first thing people doIndian editors have largely left wikipedia. So expect more unadulterated garbage.
Not anymore. That's bad because browsing wikipedia is the first thing people do
With the AI being mainstream it may decline.. else it will still stay as the first most choice for the most casual readers. It's not gonna die soon. Maybe people will start to do more fact checking but wikipedia will always be the first most platform people will do a casual browse through. The decline numbers are very small. Not anymore.
Wikipedia is declining and will be written off from people's sources if unadulterated garbage goes on. Wikipedia doesn't rank top on search engines anymore either.
Gen AI will be much worse than one Wiki, if you don't control AI ecosystem then you will be in for a ride. Again China knows this and they invested in their own models. We should do that as this is even more dangerous than any wiki. With the AI being mainstream it may decline.. else it will still stay as the first most choice for the most casual readers. Except there will be multiple AI models be doing their jobs. Just like different news platforms. Everyone will be contradicting each other if that's the case. All can't be equal. I'm sure that India will also participate in this segment with time & will have a say.Gen AI will be much worse than one Wiki, if you don't control AI ecosystem then you will be in for a ride. Point is great firewall while it had its downsides, it had lot more pro's in preventing harmful influences for 5th column to propogate in China.....if India does not govern the AI models this time around then we are in for more virile 5th columns. This is my point, first have your own LLM's trained on proBharat sensitivities with objective criticisms and factuals but also govern the medium access via regulatory control. It will be foolish not to do that.Except there will be multiple AI models be doing their jobs. Just like different news platforms. Everyone will be contradicting each other if that's the case. Wiki needs to be decimated. It has a nasty monopoly. It has been turning people into toddlers.

I will comfortably dismiss your suggestion as mere peroanal opinion as wikipedia's general reputation of being unreliable and editable by anyone in India was always prevalent. It's dire condition can be measured in drastic drop in traffic and ad revenue that wikipedia has been begging for funds from users for past 2 years. With the AI being mainstream it may decline.. else it will still stay as the first most choice for the most casual readers.
