Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

A new tender from the Indian Air Force for competition for multirole fighter aircraft is expected to be issued soon.
However, the Indian Air Force has shown keenness to acquire a particular aircraft to meet its immediate requirements

MRFA carrot dangled in front of assorted other foreign countries

But also...

40 Rafale G2G it seems

If the reports of importing 40 nos Rafales are true then news of a MRFA tender is counter intuitive. I mean what even is the point of it if you're going with 36+40 nos of a particular brand of FA. Does any other Air Force go in for duplication of abilities by opting for 2 FAs in the same category except for the Gulf Sheikhdoms?

The only way this is true is if the GoI is trying to bargain hard with Dassault holding the rest of the requirement as a carrot failing which they can threaten going in for a tender.

At this point the dhotis & the babooos have already lost. Beginning 2012 , when nobody had purchased the Rafale to ~ 2020 immediately post Galwan where we should've orderded the second tranche of 36 nos for facilities we've already paid for in advance & the order book of Dassault was anaemic meaning they didn't have much orders also implying we could've got most of the second tranche by now if not all of them & could've gone in for a third tranche, we're now trying to dictate terms to a company which in these 5 years has managed an order book of 200+ nos & a waiting list lasting till the end of the decade.

Analysis on the (North Korean) Korean People's Army Navy (KPANF) Choi Hyun class Destroyer/Frigate.

It seems to be a very well rounded, albeit mishmashed combination of North Korean, Chinese and Russian naval armaments on a Type 054A/B hull.

Displacement: 5000 tons

Additional :

Looks like the Chinese may be providing targeting coordinates against NATO vessels and civilian shipping in the Red Sea.

Need these kind of Satellite Surveillance Capability. SBS is the first step and need to do it faster.

Was just going to post this lol

>Production facility for Rafale Fuselage

This is true, It's mentioned in the PIB Release also

This adds more weight to the earlier reports of 40 Rafales being purchased for IAF.

Fukat me these chindi Frenchies will not be willing to shift a portion of their supply chain here, there is something more apart from this existing order of 26 jets.

Yes, it's not the question of "are we" now, it's the question of "how many".

If we go for 114 we can get the whole airframe production line here, plus Safran help for our engine program, plus maybe Meteor manufacturing also? MBDA/L&T already have a tie up for missiles.

Jo bhi ho let's hope they go through the ((( procedure ))) quickly and sign the contracts soon

Y'all nibbiars, is it possible to add bigger/wider lifts to INS Vikrant in a refit?

Approximately how many months would this take, assuming we have some foreign shipyard that did the same thing

I remember seeing discussions about this but maybe those were on Shaheed DFI which is in website heaven right now

It's going to be just 40 more Rafale F4 fighter jets.

Even as the Indian and French governments are working hard to finalise an agreement to buy 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets for the Indian Navy, a deal expected to be signed by the month-end, the corridors of Vayu Bhawan are abuzz with the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) intent to procure 40 additional Rafale jets.

After decision has been made, Can 8-12 month year of from planning to completion.
First 2-3 months of redesigning and beaurocracy and finding shipyard, making a deal etc and 5+months of carrier being docked and worked.

After refit trails will also happen.

But refiting most likely won't happen, as future fighters instead will be created with folding wings.

Even a large fighter like chinese j15( flanker )can fit in vikrant's lift with folded wings.
